You are taking it too personally, my friend. I'm not trying to "disparage Arthur's credibility" at all. My comments on how he makes money were made only on his camera choice not the oil splatter issue. I've read this multiple times about him, and over the years its been proven true. With every new Canon camera release, there is Art pushing it. First, to help Canon to sell it and to keep good relations with them, second to write another guide and make money. Don't you think he could easily write a guide for 1DXII, 5DIV, 7DII combined and sell it as one? Their AF setup is almost the same. Others did it, why can't he? Because he is trying to take as much $$ from his "blind" followers as he can! Have you ever purchased a guide from him? If so, which one?
Don't take my word for it. Just see what is going to happen next time Canon releases a new camera. Either 7DIII or 5DsR II. Just watch and take notes...
Does he provide help and knowledge to others? Absolutely. But I hate to see when people are being taken advantage off! Especially, novice photographers. When I find more time, I will look for his post where he specifically wrote that he is being tired of larger/heavier cameras (1DX) and prefers 5D like bodies. His reasoning of shooting 5D series and not the oil splatter issue.
But please, do not try to convince me that it is OK for him to charge 5% fee. For me it is clear rip off and taking advantage of people that do not know better. I would rather pay this commission here on FM, as this forum gives people more information than he does. If you are so OK with giving your money anyway, why aren't you supporting Fred Miranda? You are here more often than on Art's website as of late. I don't see you requesting RAW files from Art's followers. You are gaining more from this forum than from him. Come on, support Fred! https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/upload-sell.php
I didn't dismiss the oil splatter as a non-existent. I simply wasn't aware of it and even though I know about it now, it still doesn't bother me. It takes me quicker to clean the sensor than to write a reply to your comments And if you read through this thread once again, you will find that most of the people don't have an issue with it either. Not to mention the "line issue". I only suggested that it may be caused by DPAF. Simple suggestion where to look for it, not to dismiss anything. Geez... To me, it is starting to look like you either don't read responses thoroughly with your emotions taking over or you are trying to fit everyones mind to your way of thinking. Ain't gonna work...

I am not trying to “disparage Arthur’s credibility at all”
No? Then why even bother bringing up his guides and the information he sells. I simply said he would be selling his 1DX Mark II and using his 5DIVs exclusively. That spawned your little rant on his “greed”. Why bring up his “greed” at all if you’re not trying to discredit his motives?
Furthermore, why did you make this comment:
Kosin:
As for his use of 5DIV’s, I bet if he was shooting more action, aka birds in flight, his camera choice would be different. For shots of gulls on the parking lot, 5DIV does well indeed
You are literally trying to mock the man here. Nice…

As my quote from him in my previous post shows, he was still willing to use his 1DX Mark II along side his other cameras. And, according to my e-mail correspondence he stopped using it because of oil, had Canon change the sensor under warranty, and still had the camera exhibit oil splatter. Artie was then fighting with Canon over a replacement camera ever since, while all Canon would offer is more free cleanings.

You are stating the obvious. In fact, your comment is trite and beyond ignorant.
Why does this offend you? Like practically every professional photographer, or gear enthusiast, out there that likes to upgrade/compare to last generation tech, it offends you that Arthur pushes the latest technology to his readership? My God, man. I guess Randy Rouse is a hack then too in your eyes, am I right? Same goes for Michael the Maven, Tony Northrup, Jared Polin, Toby, Matt Granger, Scott Kelby, etc. All greedy, I guess. Right? They all sell something and they all push and review new gear, so obviously their motivated by greed and taking advantage of people!!!
Arthur makes no bones about what he does. As you pointed out, he acquires new gear as it’s released and tries it out. He’s in a great position to do that and many people appreciate his input. Now that Canon, for example, hasn’t put anything new out for awhile, Arthur repeatedly states (practically under every photo he posts) that the 5DIV is his favourite bird camera. If you read his responses to the comments his readers leave, he gives very detailed breakdowns on each camera model and what may suit them the best.

Yeah, I’ll watch and take notes as he reviews those cameras, just like practically every other professional photographer who wants the newest and best equipment for the job, or the YouTuber or online reviewer that has a stake in the photography community. Again, duh!!

Funny, me too! That’s why I am trying to hold Canon to account for releasing a shoddy product, knowing about its issues, and refusing to do anything about it.
You don’t seem to care about that though, because the issues don’t personally bother you. For some reason, however, Arthur Morris making guides and selling them upsets you more.
Let me ask you something — which venture is more innocent and honest: Arthur selling guides, OR a big company like Canon knowing they have a problem with one of their products, screwing their customers around when they bring the problem to their attention, all while continuing to sell the faulty product without blinking an eye?
At the end of the day, what’s your purpose pal? You’re telling me that I am taking things too personally, yet you mock and disparage someone’s credibility when they clearly have way more skill and notoriety than you, and you dismiss peoples’ troubles by stating that, even though you now know about the issues, “they still don’t bother” you because you can clean your own sensor. You’re obviously better at owning professional equipment than us, since you can do the maintenance yourself regularly and better than the Canon technicians without worry. So, why keep coming back? This seems more like a personal thing for you.

Frankly, I’ve already wasted too much time on you to respond to every one of your off-topic points or passive aggressive japes, especially the ones made to bait me into a juvenile argument over the purchase of guides and selling fees. You’ve contributed nothing of substance, and I doubt anything would “work” on you, to be honest. Glad you’re happy with the 1DX Mark II. Despite your claim regarding this thread, many people are not happy and genuinely want a fix.
