Just read Art's comments about the 1DXII. It looks like it took some time for Canon to replace his camera...
As for his use of 5DIV's, he said long time ago that the older he gets, he prefers smaller cameras and smaller/lighter lenses. Also, he is well known on favoring the newest bodies from Canon. Not to long ago, he was praising 5DsR, 7DII etc. Why? He has large following and a lot of people view him as a "grandfather" of bird photography. In their mind, whatever he says, is true. Therefore he sees large market and easy way of making money by selling his "AF guides" for each camera body. Each costs $50. Not to long ago, he started to push AF micro adjustment like it was the newest and the greatest thing to improve your shots. As many of you know, AF micro adjustments were discussed to death here on FM, and other forums, and I bet there is more detailed information here for free. But for him, it was yet another way of getting money from his followers. And guess what? His guide to AF micro adjustment also cost $50!  My point being, don't believe in everything he does, especially for his camera recommendations. He does it for one reason only. To get your money.
You really are the king of dismissal, aren't you? You dismissed the oil splatter, and you dismissed the sensor lines as possibly being a result of DPAF. Now you're dismissing Arthur for his guides and the way he makes money (ad hominem, much?)
I have exchanged dozens of e-mails with Arthur; I was cc'd into practically all his correspondence with Canon over these 1DX Mark II issues, and I spoke on the phone to the exact Canon representative he was dealing with at CanonUSA, and I forwarded all the RAWs I've collected to her. I saw through e-mails and heard on the phone Canon's dismissal of his issues. Now Canon has caved somewhat, which in large part, I believe, is because of the growing dissatisfaction that is being publicly disseminated about this camera and the fear of future blog posts from him.
I like how in order to disparage Arthur's credibility you turn to how he makes his money. So what if there is more information on AF tuning on this forum? Dozens and dozens of photographers sell guides on either fine tuning their equipment or proper photographic technique. There is free information everywhere in today's world. People pay for information to get it in a well laid out fashion and from a trusted source. There's absolutely nothing wrong wth that. It's why Jared Polin, Chelsea & Tony Northrup, and Michael the Maven, to name just a few, have large followers too. People pay for Arthur's expertise in his field. You can get your information elsewhere for free if you so choose. I'd also like to point out he posts valuable information for free in his educational blog posts, which he has been doing now for several hundred days in a row.
Selling guides and making recommendations on equipment does not delegitimize any of the problems Arthur experienced with his 1DX Mark II camera whatsoever. His 5% fee for helping members sell their gear is also fair, in my opinion. Try taking your gear to any camera store and see what they take off the top. If you want to sell your gear quickly and have maximum visibility, you pay. It's as simple and as fair as that.
As far as his camera recommendations go, well guess what? Usually the newest equipment is the best and most refined. The 5DIV is the only full frame camera Canon offers with any sort of buffer, other than the 1DX Mark II. It also has the best dynamic range of any Canon camera to date, and shares the new 1DX Mark II autofocusing system. It is easy to see why he switched from the 5DsR to the 5DIV for bird photography. Again, your arguments are to disparage and not based in reality:

I went to using my two 5D Mark IV bodies almost exclusively, at least for a while. But tempted by that blazing frame rate, I used my 1D X II a bit in January. Fairly soon I noticed more sensor dust than expected and worse yet, some additional oil spatter. So I sent the camera back to Canon for another cleaning–not sure if that was cleaning #2 or #3 but I think that it was #3. When I got the camera back I clicked off a few frames and then did an f/22 sensor dust test and saved the results (seen above at 200%). “A,” circled above in red, is good old fashioned sensor dust, albeit a good-sized chunk. One might think that a sensor should be perfect after a cleaning but small chunks of whatever are often dislodged when the shutter fires. What really worries me is the stuff circled in blue. They are to my mind surely oil spatter.
I have no doubt Artie would still be using his 1DX Mark II if it were not for its glaring issues. The fact Arthur had to wait from April to December to get anywhere at all with Canon is illustrative of Canon's unscrupulous behaviour.
How people can defend this kind of behaviour from Canon, especially regarding tools you paid for out of your own pockets and use for work, is beyond me. Anyone looking at RAWs taken from the 1DX Mark II model will see they all have excessive oil splatter, especially in the top-left of the frame. At this point people saying this is a none-issue are defending the indefensible.
You are taking it too personally, my friend. I'm not trying to "disparage Arthur's credibility" at all. My comments on how he makes money were made only on his camera choice not the oil splatter issue. I've read this multiple times about him, and over the years its been proven true. With every new Canon camera release, there is Art pushing it. First, to help Canon to sell it and to keep good relations with them, second to write another guide and make money. Don't you think he could easily write a guide for 1DXII, 5DIV, 7DII combined and sell it as one? Their AF setup is almost the same. Others did it, why can't he? Because he is trying to take as much $$ from his "blind" followers as he can! Have you ever purchased a guide from him? If so, which one?
Don't take my word for it. Just see what is going to happen next time Canon releases a new camera. Either 7DIII or 5DsR II. Just watch and take notes...
Does he provide help and knowledge to others? Absolutely. But I hate to see when people are being taken advantage off! Especially, novice photographers. When I find more time, I will look for his post where he specifically wrote that he is being tired of larger/heavier cameras (1DX) and prefers 5D like bodies. His reasoning of shooting 5D series and not the oil splatter issue.
But please, do not try to convince me that it is OK for him to charge 5% fee. For me it is clear rip off and taking advantage of people that do not know better. I would rather pay this commission here on FM, as this forum gives people more information than he does. If you are so OK with giving your money anyway, why aren't you supporting Fred Miranda? You are here more often than on Art's website as of late. I don't see you requesting RAW files from Art's followers. You are gaining more from this forum than from him. I didn't dismiss the oil splatter as a non-existent. I simply wasn't aware of it and even though I'm know about it now, it still doesn't bother me. It takes me quicker to clean the sensor than to write a reply to your comments  And if you read through this thread once again, you will find that most of the people don't have an issue with it either. Not to mention the "line issue". I only suggested that it may be caused by DPAF. Simple suggestion where to look for it, not to dismiss anything. Geez... To me, it is starting to look like you either don't read responses thoroughly with your emotions taking over or you are trying to fit everyones mind to your way of thinking. Ain't gonna work...
