Canon USA list 6D2 on web site. List sensor features high resolution 26 mg and expanded ISO 100-40000.

https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/products/details/cameras/dslr/eos-6d-mark-ii

Read into it what you will.

I was previously reading into the 40,000 as a sign that high-ISO might be very good as 5D4 is 32,000 and 1DX2 is 51,200. However, Canon will also sometimes up the limit just because they have better NR in camera processing. For RAW shooters that isn't useful.
No mention of DR doesn't mean much as I don't think it is ever listed in spec sheets. Only sometimes in press releases or Explorer of Light reviews.

All will be revealed at the end of the month or whenever the embargo for reviews ends (may be a few days before the 27th release)

A little overlay I did of the 1DX2 vs 6D2 AF points. When I first looked at the 6D2 points I actually didn't think it was all that bad for FF but after doing this overlay I see why some are complaining. Although I think some early complaints were unfounded with people being confused with how spread an APS-C camera can be. Still.....

PDR seems to indicate about the same from ISO 3200 on up.

Is it normal that the working temperature be no lower than freezing? It states the working Temp Range is 32 - 104 F....

These numbers are typically very conservative for most electronics. They do it to cover their "rears" with warranty claims IMHO...

Do folks across the pond get their hands on them before the US does?

Great review Rob! Thank you!

One thing you had mentioned that I had not even thought about was the touch screen focusing and the ease of doing focus stacking using this feature. Now that is a big plus for me personally as that's something I could really use.

Would be easier if canon had focus peeking though :/
And zebras too...

In just 9 days, we will know for sure, as all those "but it is only a pre-production sample", will be moot :-)

I've not had any problems with focus peeking in my FF Canons.

Well, local dealer here has 6DII listed on 21.7., that's what I got confirmed by email, but maybe it will come later, who knows ....

Could someone with a more experiential knowledge of dynamic range walk me through the real world differences between the 6D and the 5DIV performance? For instance, if I snap a shot of my kids with our 6D and it turns out to be a bit underexposed, I usually boost the shadows in LR and end up with a shot that still looks great. With a camera like the 5DIV, which has more DR, does it essentially let you boost it even further with less degradation in the appearance of the shadows? I'm at the point where we're purchasing a second FF body for our family and I have a preorder for the 6D2 already out there, but we have enough to afford a 5DIV if necessary. I've been bouncing back and forth between the two cameras for a while, and my main hangup with the 5DIV is the lack of tilt screen (which I find really useful for more easily getting creative angles), and on the 6D2 it's the reported lack of dynamic range improvement.

I wouldn't discount the 6d2 yet..

But yes, more dr helps you preserve the highlights and recover shadows.

There's a rather large difference between "a bit underexposed" and boosting shadows in a scene that has a relative "normal" dynamic range (max diff between highs / lows) that falls within the latitude of the sensor ... vs. ... a scene that is being intentionally underexposed about 5 stops in order to safeguard the highlights of when you are shooting directly into the sun and still expecting to trying capture dark shadow details.

Here's the other thing to bear in mind about the DR discussion being a "lack of improvement" ... the improvement that is being mostly discussed, is the base ISO (and we haven't seen the final production models yet). If you are talking about shooting kids indoors, etc. ... you're likely gonna raise your ISO anyway, once you get north of ISO 400 or so ... that "gap" of "lack of improvement" is significantly narrowed (i.e. probably won't make a hill of beans diff).

I think the real question is "when do the nondisclosure agreements expire?". Though I doubt we will find a camera reviewer willing to disclose the existence of a NDA in the first place.

Locally $2244.00 is the latest list price for the 6D Mark II - that's 76,000 baht - I just bought a mint 6D for $850.00.

Used 5D4s are appearing for $2700.00.

Hello, there is no news about DR ?
Right now i process for stocks another portion of outdoor portraits from 5d2, сlean the noise, downsize up to 4-6 megapixels every second photo, and the soul hopes to wonderful refutation of this whole DR drama.

Don't worry about reported lack of dynamic range internet nonsense. If you can manage 6D files you will also manage 6D2 files. 5D4 will give you next to nothing compared to 6D2 for photographing your kids. What you save by not going for 5D4 you can invest in better glass, there you will see real difference.

Second that. If you have to choose one area to upgrade, pick the glass.

AFAIK, those are still based off from the same images released off a pre-production model.
In a few days we will have more data points to be measured off the actual release models.

Personally, I'm still hoping to see the final numbers brought up to the same level as all the other current new bodies.
But if it's not, I'm not going to worry about it. I got caught up in the DR frenzy myself, but after giving it some further thought, it's not that major of an issue to me compared to the improvements this new body has over the 6D.

I'm holding tight until I get my hands on it and see for myself what it brings to the table.

No I think those are now off of RAWs from his other sources. He has removed the disclaimer about using those other RAWs from the 6D2 selection. You could PM him for clarification. He is user bclaff_too
