p.92 #1 · Adapting Lenses to the Fuji GFX

Three vertical images stitched together. Under Interstate 90. GFX 100s with Contax 645 120mm Makro Planar. F32, 1.5 seconds at 100 ISO. Makes for a 90"+ wide image @ 300dpi. Surprisingly the image is very sharp... near to far.

Fine fine image this and one on previous page. I also now own 35/45/80/120/140mm Contax and all are superb performers.

Thank you, That last one was my first stitched image ever. I am going to go back and do another wider and from 5 images to see what that gives me with the 120mm. I do not have the 80mm or 140mm but now have the 210mm which I have not tried as yet. The 35mm and 45mm seem to be excellent and definitely keepers.

Has anyone here tried the Tamron 15-30? There's a post on dpreview with astro photos that seems to imply some pretty exceptional performance.

Trying to kick off a small YouTube channel reviewing legacy lenses.. some shots taken while trying to get some material put together for my first episode, featuring the Minolta Rokkor 45 f/2 (on the GFX 50r).

Great lens, good coverage with a soft vignette, not so great corner performance unless you stop down quite a bit but if your corners aren't a big part of your image it works very nicely. Nice feel in the hand as well, and it's tiny and light, ~120g.

Adapting Hasselblad V lens to Fuji GFX 50SII with a Metabones Speed Booster Ultra 0.71x Cine mount

First day out with it, but it will be my standard kit for digital medium format. Almost the same FOV as 6x6 Hasselblad film body when cropped 1x1.

Waterfall shot from a hike today and a few behind the scenes of the set up.

I have several adapted lenses for use on the GFX and so far, they have worked out pretty well.

19mm Nikkor PC-E via a Steelsring adapter. I get about 8mm of shift with this lens and it works well. Very sharp out to the corners at f/11-f/13

24mm Canon Tilt/Shift with a Kipon adapter. About 8mm of shift, good color and sharpness. The Nikkor seems just a wee bit sharper than the Canon 24mm. (which is a stellar lens)

Pentax 35mm (645) on a Kipon shift adapter. About 8mm of shift. Lens suffers from mustache distortion . I correct it in Capture One.

Pentax 120mm Macro (645) also on a Kipon adapter. Fantastic lens! 95% (IMO) of the Fuji lens for significantly less money. I bought mine from a dealer in Japan in mint condition for around $300 USD.

I am considering buying the Pentax 400 (645) in the future.

Minolta 50mm f/1.7, a lens easy to find in great condition for cheap. Soft vignette in the corners and a little soft and smeared in the extreme corners. Still a lot of usable real estate on the 100s, this is cropped to about 9k pixels on the long side. Click for full size, if I copied the link correctly.

p.92 #18 · Adapting Lenses to the Fuji GFX

I'm a novice to adapting lenses to the GFX bodies (100S in my case), but I'm interesting in trying out a few Contax 645 lenses (which ones are a separate topic). I've read through much of this thread and a variety of reviews and forum discussions. However, I'm still at a loss as to which adapter I should get. Are there any good resources/reviews that show or discuss side-by-side comparisons? Any rankings in terms of performance, build quality, features and reliability? Or how about some personal opinions as to which should be at the top of the list and which should be avoided?

Thanks in advance.

Are you looking for AF? Then it may be worth researching and reviewing various qualities.

Looking for manual focus? I would suggest to get the cheapest adapter from eBay first. I was lucky and my Mamiya 645 to GFX adapter works great. Perhaps QC may not be the best, but you don't need more than a dumb pipe with bayonets on both sides.

If Fringer makes the adapter you're looking for, and they have a fairly limited selection at the moment, they are the best. As far as I know they only make one 645 to GF adapter and that's to adapt Contax 645 to the Fuji. I have that one, which is not inexpensive at seven bills, along with the Canon EF to GF Fringer which works impeccably. Autofocus works very well with the Canon mount lenses but is more hit or miss with the Contax.

The first adapter I tried for the Canon to GF was the Fotodiox and that literally did not autofocus at all although it did sort of work for manual focus so I sent it back and bought the Fringer.
