John you are truly kind. I do appreciate it. At my age any encouragement is needed.
Well I did have the EOS 500ISii...wonderful lens...but as alluded to many times it just got too heavy
for me to enjoy....same with the big Canon body.
I'm not complaining at all on the FE100400. I had the EOS 100-400ii and never thought it could be bested in its range but the Sony is sharper.
Hey, just a matter of time and I won't be able to tote the Sony either! That's why I study Oly as well and I tell you that new Pan-Leica lens certainly is enticing.

My second night with the a9 was a lot better than my first night. Tweaked my AF settings and think I can make this work as a second body to my 1dx2.
a9 with 24-70 2.8 GM and ISO 3200, 2.8 and 1/1250.
Used the a9 in my portable studio yesterday. Really liked the eye AF and the ability to focus and recompose on the fly. Still have some tweaks to make to my workflow as a long time Canon shooter (and still a Canon shooter) I need to learn the optimal Lightroom processing for the Sony sensor and tweak my recipie for sharpening and noise reduction.
Seems like there are just a select few of us enjoying the a9.
This is the largest crop yet I've pushed with the a9, maybe pushed too far for detail. Again using
the 2.0TC on the 100400GM.
If you've ever been to Conowingo know I was standing by the fence/parking area and this eagle was 15-20 feet from the rocks on the island just back from the point.
