I sold mine a while back and am now looking for another. I tried the Sigma and see what people like but the Nikon is the one that has the 'look' that I like. Here's one shot at f/1.4.
The Nikon 35mm 1.4g is my favorite lens of all time. I tried other brands and even owned the 1.8g but the 1.4g has a much better look and better transmission. I shot them side by side and the 1.8g was darker even at the same aperture f2 and it felt chintzy next to the 1.4g
Two more from the session with my friend in her beautiful spanish dress (she came right back from the Fallas Valencia in that dress on the plane ). Focusing the D600 in the near dark corridor was a real pain, I guess I'll have to upgrade my body at some point...
Superb lens - IMHO it has the best rendering of any auto-focus 35, enough sharpness to deliver the goods, a superbly long and smooth contrast range, and accurate auto-focus.
It doesn't test as well as the Sigma Art in terms of sharpness, micro contrast and CA, but relatively few subjects render like a test chart.
The 35G 1.4 is a very underappreciated optic that many overlook for the Sigma due to its lower price point and with "better" test results, but after living with both for some time, for most subjects I strongly prefer the 35G 1.4 (and sold the Sigma).

Same here - bought into the Sigma Art hype when it came out. 35mm is a focal length I really like, but I never warmed to the images the 35 Art gave me. I then bought a used 35G, and it's one of my favourite lenses. Yep, it has a hell of a lot of CA, but nothing that can't be fixed in LR in 1 minute. The rendering is just beautiful. Sold the Art after doing some comparison shots that showed yes, the Art is slightly sharper, but the OOF and the transitions look better on the 35G, more natural. Just my personal experience/view, of course.
Quite some images here. I sold my 35/85 1.4G to finance the 105E, but every time I open this thread I think it was a mistake to sell the 35. BTW I don't miss the 85
Correction for the record. I mentioned earlier on this thread that I wasn't a fan of the focusing of the lens on my d750. In fact, it was on my d700. So I have never compared the siggy to the nikon on the same body. Maybe it would do better on the d750.
