I have a FM2n and like it a lot (shot with it today). Got this one around 1997 and used it mostly with a MD-12 (Motor-Drive, about 3.5 frames/second). The fastest shutter-speed of 1/4000sec is great for using fast glass and the 1/250 second as flash-sync-speed is a good feature too. The finder is clean and bright, but for people wearing glasses a F3HP or a similar body with High-Eyepoint-Finder might be the better choice.
The batterie will last almost forever and the camera itself will work fine without a batterie at all, the metering is just dead.
The FM2 will NOT WORK

Thanks for answering my questions. That's too bad G lenses will not work. I'm still getting one though. Look forward to joining the film shooter's group.

^Congrats to your first home-developed roll of film!

How are you using the G-lens with your FE-2? I was under the impression that FM2, FE2 and so on will not work with G-type Nikkor's.

They do mount and will take shots. There are however problems and workarounds.

The main issue is that they will shoot completely stopped down if you just mount them.

I basically just did this:
https://petapixel.com/2015/10/08/tip-you-can-use-nikkor-g-lenses-on-nikon-film-slrs-with-a-piece-of-string/

It's not elegant but it gets the job done. I just leave it fully open because that's how I shoot that lens 95% of the time anyway.

The other issue would be feeding the camera this info for any sort of automatic mode. Since I'm shooting wide open that one basically solves itself. Going manual also negates that problem since you're not relying on the camera to make exposure decisions anyway.

It's certainly not a real solution but it's fine for me.

Thanks for the informations! I think I'll keep on using my FM2 with aperture-ring-Nikkor's and should I feel the need to use a G-lens I could pick up the F5 ;-)

Thanks again, happy shooting, Georg.

Haven't visited this thread in a while and there's a few Nikon film images to populate here, with a variety of gear.

And lastly, with the F601 QD, 55 1.2S Nikkor and TMax 100 film. Lots of German influence in Baltimore.

In keeping with the thread sentiment, replaced the last pic with one taken with a Nikon camera.
