It was extremely windy, almost hurricane-like, and then there was the very fine sand that stuck everywhere. A nightmare for every camera. Every time I screwed on the lens hood it made a crunch! Although I only changed lenses in our accommodation, this was the first time in over 6 years that I had to wet clean a sensor... The sensor was so dirty that I couldn't stop stamping the stains away in Lightroom. On the other hand, no fine sand got into the Batis lenses. I had B135 and B40 with me. I shined a lamp into the lenses at home, no dust, no sand, like I just bought. ...Show more →
yes it can get a bit windy there - happy to hear that it didn't affect the lens; I've been worried about that a few times.
Here's one from that same beach, a couple of years ago:
Sony A7RIV ZEISS Batis 1.8/85 f/4.5 1/1000s 100ISO

I trust the Batis lenses that they seal very well. We spent a week in Bergen aan Zee. I was only there in the summer before. But I think that Bergen has its own special charm in autumn.
I am very interested in buying the Batis 40/2 and have read all I could on FM forum. And after reading through full 55 pages here: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1563756/54 I was left without actual conclusions: has the firmware solved the Eye-AF and nonagonal bokeh balls issues?
Also, I do have the CV 40/1.2, will buying this Batis 40/2 make any sense as only for filling the gap for the AF lenses I have now: 24GM-65i-90i-B135? (note: I do not like 35mm FL, so any 35mm lens is not an option for me - I do like 40mm and 50mm. Actual fact is that I lust for a 50/1.2GM but can't justify spending that cash for it, so this B40 is more of a side step at this moment).

I have both and could honestly recommend it. The Batis has beautiful rendering. I am very happy with Eye-AF performance on it and the bokeh is mostly good too. It's a surprisingly nice combo to have.

I have thought about buying this lens a number of times but the often repeated issues with eye autofocus have stopped me. Has this been fixed or are some just happy with how it works? Particularly in continuous autofocus?
Thanks for your replies!
I have just bought a used one from mbp Europe. Hope to get it by the end of the week.
I do not shoot people a lot, but still, this lens is meant as a complement to the MF Nokton, so I hope it will perform well in AF-C/Eye AF.
I would be also very interested in a "rendering" comparison vs the 50/1.2 GM (just hoping it can save me a bunch of money )
