From my casual reading of the Jupiter i picked up on the bokeh , flare are not as good as the Zeiss which he seems to love more. Not sure about it myself as even at 650 its not that far away from a used Zeiss which i like the output better.
That was my issue with the Jupiter 3+.. Why would I pay $650 for anything made by lomography.com, and especially when the actual Zeiss lens can be had for $150-$200 more?
Well I've succumbed. As per usual, after a busy FM thread, all used copies are gone, so I just ordered new from Leica Shop in anticipation of a trip in a couple weeks. Ends up being less than a US version even after the rebate credit card hassle. Fred and Guy (you too David), I'm going to ask you to stop picking up so many lenses I don't yet own and showing what can be done with them. I survived the ZM 35/1.4 barrage just barely, but this one was too much to resist! By the way Fred, beautiful family, and I'm glad you explained why you were stopping down a bit. f/1.5 for funk, and f/1.7 to smooth it out a bit.
This lens checks my boxes as a smaller albeit longer substitute for my ZF 35/1.4. I've always loved the SA and field curvature of that lens for environmental portraits, but it's truly cumbersome to carry around, especially adapted to a Sony. If I gel with the C-Sonnar, I can probably sell the ZF35/1.4, CV35/1.2, and get the ZM35/1.4.
I also decided to try out the Kolari mod on my old A7. I have my ZM25/2.8 and ZM35/2.8 on the B&S, but I'm going to take them down to play with on the new camera. If they look good, particularly the C-Biogon as I'm hoping, I'm starting my own thread showing it's awesomeness as friendly revenge
You know this about the worst time to not have any gear money. Photokinia is hitting in a few days announcements from Sony tomorrow. Im thinking a ticket to dessert island so i can't read any of this.

that's why i sold my a7r2, FE 35/1.4 and Batis 25 over the past 2 wks.....it could be an interesting Fall !!
one question i have for you guys and this TAP and the formerly MF lenses - just how good is the AF?
i don't need it to track someone running around, but is it 'great' from the perspective of an MF lens? or is it 'great' relative to something we consider 'slow' like the 85GM (which i don't think is that bad, but just to use an example that some complained they thought was slow) ?
Sony has a press conference on the 9th. I got a feeling watching them raise the price of the RXr1 II they way they did it was to halt sales for a new body and the 42mpx sensor given the earthquake was replaced with a new sensor for a new camera. Thats my thinking and i could be completely dead wrong. But i think a new body is being announced soon here

Actually i think its about the same speed now as the 85GM with the new version 4 firmware. It just got really fast

You may actually be right? The only thing I am hoping for is the 16-35/2.8 GM lens announcement.
that's one of the lenses i'm waiting to see the specs on - although it seems like it will be hard for a zoom to outperform both the Batis 18 and Batis 25 - but if it comes close, that may be my first zoom in 4 years.
dreaming (because i doubt there's any chance in the next few years) of a 28GM that would fit my kit like a glove - but maybe the 28mm is my "TAP / ZM" trial lens....

Maybe if it was $200-$250 I could see it..
yeah, the original j-3 is worth it's price ($150), but this new version seems way over priced – the coatings still aren't great and it doesn't have the improved performance that the zm does due to zeiss's design tweaks.
Any Loxia owners here? If so is the draw of the Sonnar that different? I have streamlined over the years. From a bag of zooms and heavy 1.4s to a 50 and 21.

I was wondering if any of you chaps were saving your pennies for the sure to come Sony announcements. Not sure if camera goodies will be announced during tomorrow's press conference or in a month or so. Either way, I expect a few camera announcements from Sony and probably new lenses from Zeiss both Batis and Loxia. Wouldn't be surprised if there is a GM 16-35 F2.8 in there too. Stay tuned
