Ok peeps, I posted a question regarding switching from AF to MF and back again on the A7RII and have a lot of views, but no one chiming in, perhaps someone where has feedback.
I've got a lot of button pushing going on that seems redundant in this process and I've not been able to see a way around it. The way I have my camera set up is with the AF/MF toggling back and forth between AF and MF modes with the round button in the middle of the switch set to activate AF.
What I can't get my head around is the way the buttons seem to conflict with one another. When I with the lever out of AF and into MF, I need to hit the AF activate button to be truly in MF mode. Hitting it makes the focus area box disappear, and then I can bring up the focus magnify feature if I want. But if I don't hit it twice, I get the error message "This operation or setting not available as follows Focus Mode Single-Shot AF."
What is equally frustrating is that when I go to switch back to AF and I haven't triggered the autofocus right before to bring back the focus area, even though I've switched the toggle switch back to AF, it doesn't work. I've got to put the lever back in MF mode, hit the AF button to bring the focus box back, then toggle back to AF.
Am I totally missing something here? I would have imagined that toggling back and forth between AF and MF would be the only operation. I love the A7RII, but damn, I feel like I've got to be doing something wrong.
