fantastic images, could you please tell about the lighting?
They're all natural light mate.
It was a perfect day actually. We shot these at about 7.30-8pm as the sun was setting. A few clouds in the sky really helped as well.
The d810 files give a lot of room to work on them, although they were pretty good out of camera.
They look over processed in my opinion. A lot of dodging as you can see halos around the faces in some

Not sure if you have seen my other replies regarding Sigma products but...
Hate to break it to you but no matter how good them sigma lenses are, I will not buy them.
I'm an OEM diehard, I will not put an "aftermarket bodykit on my Acura"
If that was the case, I'd own a 24A, 35A and 50A by now. Instead, I own 24G, 35G and 58G.

Well that is just narrow minded thinking. I have the sigma 20mm f/1.4 art, 35mm art, 50mm art, and just recently the 85mm art. I also have the 105mm f/1.4 nikkor. However the Sigma 35, 50, & 85mm lenses are noticeably sharper than Nikon's line up. Heck, the 85mm art has now been named the sharpest lens made to this day. Granted I know there is more to any lens besides sharpness, but these sigma lenses are superb. I've compared them to the Nikon equivalent and Sigma always wins in the image quality department and the best part, they cost much less!
You should give Sigma a chance. I like to use mine for astrophotography and portraits and the only Nikon lenses that produce near perfect star points (almost no coma) at the edge of the frame are the Nikkors 58mm and 105mm. The rest do not, however Sigma does a better job at edge sharpness. That 85mm is insane...I like it just as much or more than my Nikon 105mm f/1.4 E.
Anyway I admire your commitment to Nikon, but most of the time Sigma and Zeiss have them beat. I think I'm almost all Sigma now. But when posting images online, like this forum, it doesn't matter what lens is used because the image is to small to tell the difference in quality. I'm not trying to bash Nikon, I've been a Nikon user for 30+ years. I'm constantly selling/trading lenses and I always seem to gravitate towards Sigma. I only have one AF Nikon lens, several manual focus ones. So, I just wanted to share my experience with Sigma. Please use what lenses make you happy. I like the idea of a Sigma 135mm f/1.8! That sounds sweet. I have the Zeiss apo 135mm f/2, I'd like to compare the sigma to that one.

Well, I beg to differ. I wanted to love the Sigma Art line, unfortunately it was nothing but pain. I'm talking about AF issues. Dock or no dock - it's bad. End of story.

Sorry you had a lame experience. I know the "non art" line had issues, but the art doesn't. My Nikon D800 had issues with Sigma, but that was a Nikon issue. That D800 body even had issues with Nikon flashes, the IR red af indicator on the flash didn't even provide correct focus for Nikon lines and Nikon didn't even bother fixing it. So if you have a D800, that is your problem, the body doesn't do well with Sigma. My D810 works perfectly with Sigma. Enjoy your Nikon!
