Here's a couple of my grandparents. This lens is superb!
This makes me so envious. All 4 of my grandparents died before I had a chance to know them. I look at other families and see their happiness and wonder how mine would have been like.
That second image is priceless. Yes it shows off the Nikon 105 beautifully, but more importantly this picture tells a great story and is worthy of the highest praise. Every time I look at it I smile.

The white in her dress looks blown out. Did you shoot RAW? You may want to fix that...
Your monitor is off and you need to learn how to read a histogram. The white dress looks absolutely spot on and the histogram confirms it. He has probably another 1/3 stop headroom before blowing things out.
I have the 50 F/1.4 as an inexpensive way to get interesting signatures in the OOF areas of an image. (I don't like the "B-word" because it oversimplifies things.)
Since I don't use my gear that much for my salaried job, I don't "need" one of the premier F1.4 lenses or the 200 f2.
But I want one.
I just can't decide if I like the FOV of the 105 enough to just buy it at new USA prices.
Or if I would be happier with the FOV of the 58, and at a lower cost, perhaps even used.
It's a tough choice, and if there's a new 135 on the horizon, I'd probably trigger its announcement by invoking Murphy's Law when buying the new 105!
BTW, I also compared this lens with 105DC. I think some may wonder how this so called "legendary" portrait lens fare against this new lens. I put this on my 2nd D810 and used both in real life photoshoot to compare sharpness, bokeh and skintone rendition. http://i.imgur.com/f0C2Iiz.jpg
Let me know if you guys want to see the result (as it may be off-topic so I ask before posting).
EDIT:
Sorry if the photos are too big. Next time will make them smaller before posting.
