I try to get a few each year with this lens when we go water skiing. It gives a unique look when compared to my usual setup with my 70-200mm. Lighting a bit harsh on these.

Does anyone know if a 77mm filter would vignette on this lens using 82-77mm step down ring? I have a couple of nice 77mm ND filters that might be handy using with this lens.

It will vignette. You can try it but I can almost guarantee the results won't be acceptable.

Step up/down rings are cheap.
