I really love this lens but I am considering putting it up for sale. I find it a bit heavy to carry around on a wedding day and find myself using the 58 more.

I know this is the Nikon forum, but have any of you 105mm owners tried it on a Fuji GFX at all?
It may be the best lens in the world, muhahaha.
I know the 200 is the bomb, but it's just not as versatile!
no on the fuji.
but I am getting close to renting a Sony mirrorless setup, and an 85GM.
not selling nikon gear, just want to give the new tech a whirl b/c why not!
they say, ABC, always be closing.

I had the Fuji GFX for a period testing it and loved the feel, IQ and rendering. It is a stunning camera, but it is in a different league in terms of dynamic usability. This is strength of D850. I am sure you can adapt the 105E but larger sensor IQ achievable with the GFX will be offset by the IQ degradation with the lens and sensor combination.

I actually think the GFX is pretty friendly to adapted lenses, in some ways - the pixel pitch isn't as demanding as the D850, so if the lens covers the sensor, it tends to work great. Obviously if it has super soft corners on 36x24, it's going to suffer on the GFX though.
Appreciate the input! I agree the GFX has a really special look.
Here is a portrait from yesterday. This was my first time using a 40” diffuser over the subject at an angle similar to a soft box that I normally would use. I think I did well on this, many complements on it. I used my Nikon D850 with the Nikon 105mm f/1.4 @ f/1.4. I probably could have used f/2.8 but I was playing with the wide open thing that most are doing now. I suppose there is a time and place for wide open, it seems to have worked ok here. I like the soft light from the diffuser. It was about 18” above here head. She has beautiful eyes!
