Crop the 105 to match the sigma 135 and they will look the same. I have both, they both are unique and have their place in the field. The reason why the background looks so much different/better on the 105 is because you can get closer to your subject and still have room on the top, right, and left sides of the person. The sigma is much more compressed. Same way with the 85mm FL vs the 105... the 85 has a wider view.
You're probably right. But, for some reason, I find myself drawn to the 105mm more than the 135mm.
I use my 105mm more as well. It’s a great everything lens. I used to use the 85mm as my main lens, but now I prefer the 105. I have the 35 & 50mm Sigma lenses, but I don’t use them much. I prefer medium telephoto for everything.

I barely touch the sigma 35 and 50. I shoot with the 20mm often, but am now thinking about selling all three for the Nikon 28mm f1.4e
4 year birthday is approaching fast in 2 months, he was supposed to wear this for school pictures but they were cancelled due to weather. I went ahead and snapped one pic just to remember it by.
Really enjoy this shot but not a fan of the tilted horizon, I edited it level and think it looks better... great shot though and he'll appreciate this shot when he's older.

I'm switching from Sony to Nikon for this lens. I love the images from it that much. 100 is my favorite focal length so cost be damned.
