Thanks Frank,

I gave your set up a go, minus the hair light. I put a honey comb grid on the backdrop and got a nice white to black look on the backdrop and I stood 2 meters from the backdrop. I then set my main light 5 meters from me just to the right of my camera and when I took the shot the main exposed my backdrop overpowering the effect from the honey comb.

My backdrop is white and both strobs were set at their lowest setting.

Any ideas.

Yes, it was. It's one of the best forums on the internet Period, and I can't understand why the sticky was removed

Now the great information will be diluted as people bump it up. No one wants to see this forum go away – too much good stuff.

IF you look sometimes the threads at the TOP of the pile do not move up and down..

there is a small icon to indicate that it cant be moved - Stuck

Here is my studio,

Been waiting for the arrival of my Octa Box. The difference it has already made is amazing. My floor space is a bit tight, but after seen other set ups on here I dont think I can complain.

@matt.
Try to get a balance between your mainlight and the effect light.
Also when you have the overpowering, angle the mainlight more to the side.
Make sure they are BOTH on the same side, so the effect light will light the backdrop, the mainlight the model in an ANGLE almost alway's arround 45-50 degrees in my case.
I use barndoors on my mainlight when I have spill.
When using a softbox there will alway's be spill.

Greetings,
Frank

What do you use to weigh down the ends of the paper roll.

I notice there is no seam line between the plexiglass and the paper roll. Has it been cloned out.

TAPE! (...or allow the plexiglas to cover out to the edges of the seamless, depending on the size of the seamless and plexiglas.)

Oh on the end
I have also the plexiglass but because I got alot of negative remarks of using the sheets in almost every shoot I now shoot 90% without plexiglass (also very nice when done correctly) and I use some weights to hold the paper down, I change alot during a session so tape is no option for me.

How would you guys paint a brick wall? I have an extra room we added to the house. More like enclosed a porch we had but one wall is brick. I'd like to utiilize it. I dont have a studio but I may just convert the extra room to one.

Its 10' x15' room.

I would use a paint brush bought from home depot.. and mask the ceiling so as not to allow slop onto the top.
