p.10 #1 · Gameface media - heads up on getting paid
So, now GFM is offering to pay more for things that they previously didn't, meanwhile it seems virtually everyone is STILL waiting to get paid what they're already owed.
I don't know exactly where this falls on the continuum between "dubious" and "desperate," (or, most likely, both), but either way this does not bode well for them.
I feel bad that so many photographers are being hung out to dry, but is anyone else at least a LITTLE interested in vindictively watching the trainwreck that if GFM finally come off the rails? With any luck, with some legal action tendered against them?

Ran into someone last night that was paid for a May event. Yet I still wait...
I seriously feel like I'm being played. They're still hiring photographers, too...and using our work to promote themselves...aaagh, this is nervewracking!

I am sorry to hear about GameFace's issues and sympathize with those of you who haven't been paid. I have not worked for them since early this year and was paid promptly.
Summer is slow here in Florida, but I was offered an obstacle event this weekend with a guaranteed 10-hour pay, but by the time I got around to responding, the photo positions had been filled. So, I guess they are not having a difficult time finding shooters.
I have a Tough Mudder scheduled with them.
I have always been treated well by GameFace and will continue to work for them, hopefully being paid.
I know major event photo companies like Marathon are hurting as fewer people purchase photos and it loses races to companies like ChronoTrack and FinisherPix; even the big Disney races are apparently being brought in house to be shot by $10 per hour photographers.
I am usure of how the event photo business is going to shake out, but maybe neither the pay-for-pic nor the free photo model will win.

I am still awaiting payment from an event I shot in May. Recently, they approached me, asking if I could shoot another event for them. I would have had to drive quite a distance and stay over night. Having not being paid since May, I just couldn't do this latest event. I'd like to shoot for them again, but I just don't know if I will ever get paid; furthermore, with the number of shots I take, that puts wear on your camera.

I sent another email and got the same answer: they're still working on paying people for May events and will start paying for June events "soon". Which is the same answer I got two months ago. It wasn't a copy-paste email like before but still, I'm tired of hearing the same things over and over when they're actively hiring photographers for events (despite being unable to pay them). At this point things are looking so shady they're almost pitch black.

Tell me about it...a typical GFM event adds a good 2,000-2,500 to my camera's shutter count. I take almost three times as many photos during those events as I do during college basketball games.

They've treated me well too, and honestly I don't mind working for them. I just don't want to do it for free considering how much work goes into photographing the average GFM event (since they're usually mud runs, color runs, obstacle races, etc). I'm mainly upset because I nearly ended up suffering from heatstroke after the last event I shot for them, and I want to be paid for the event so I don't feel like I went out in extremely hot and humid weather and taxed my body and my gear for nothing.

I did get heat stroke. Most of us are used to moving around so be careful sitting in the same place for 6 hrs

It's like youth sports in that everyone has a camera or phone and sales slowly went away
p.10 #11 · Gameface media - heads up on getting paid
I have noticed that at many running events, participants no longer get excited about having their photos made before or after the race. They can do that with their phones, once the sun comes up. They still like the medals shots, awards and, of course good running/biking/swimming images.

I'm waiting to be paid on events in Portland, Oregon that happen in first week of June..... same ole saying, u will get paid......have not shot any more events, Gameface , put themselves in this position.... how can they catchup... with current events not paying GM.... so I did file a complaint with local labor board about GFM.
Should a class action be in the future!
Photog stand united against companies that take advantage of good shooters......

To be fair, we've been "waiting" for 6 months or more, some people have been owed thousands of dollars. At what point do people stop playing nice? Maybe a lawsuit or a small claims judgement can get things moving as the nice guy approach doesn't seem to have worked for many people.
