Based on the declining quality of the event results GFM needs to stop blacklisting and start healing the wounds they have created. No matter what they do to improve their business model if they don't fix the bleeding quality nobody will want to pay for the crap they have been posting with the continued hiring of photographers that just graduated from high school photo class. They need to address the quality or they will continue be spiral out of control. Blackballing qualified photographers need to be replaced with encouraging the blackballed to return to the GFM family. Maybe they will survive for another season but eventually the need to be honest with themselves and admit alternative facts has not been good for their success. Who doesn't feel a little betrayed by the way they were "handled" this last season. ...Show more →
Totally agree. I know at least one shooter who was "fired" for talking. And I know several other really good shooters with top end equipment that will never work for them again. So, now GF is going to get craigslist people with BestBuy kit lens stuff they got last month.

Not sure why I didn't get the email , but they have no problem accepting my open requests to shoot even as they still owe me money from 8 months ago
They are practicing selective marketing (read HOSING) as always. If you are in the fold they will continue embrace you. Eventually you will be left out of the fold when they think you are no longer useful to them. If all that are owed money would collectively refuse to be support them they will continue to collapse. Maybe you won't ever see a dollar from them. But if you keep working for free you won't see a dollar and you can find clients elsewhere that will pay you to shoot for them. Fifty dollars an hour might seem great but when you factor in your costs you will find you are not getting enough for your services. They will continue to lure in unsuspecting beginners, not pay them and grow the business the old fashioned way like they did in the South until Lincoln came along! Wake up if you are still not paid after eight months and still working for them they are your master!

I wish I had never told you about them. I got the email, it was pitiful whining, I'd never shoot for them again no matter what happens,

Randy I am still glad I did it, it was fun. I got paid for one event but they owe me for another. You had no idea they would be in this situation and up until 2016 they seemed to be doing great.

I did 2 events for them. Both were really fun to shoot and I got some awesome shots. It's a bummer that they screwed up and started lying to people like they did

You still have to collect your judgement. The court isn't going to collect for you...which usually means looking for assets they own and putting a lien against it - however, I would think this type of business would have very little assets in their name.

Yes. From what I understand, $8,000+ on the very first case where they were taken to small claims court.

from what I found the plaintiff was awarded $7K and $150 in court fees and the "defendant failed to appear". They have been ordered to pay $7,150 by March 9th.

The thing that I find a little bothersome is that they ignored the courts too by NOT showing up. This company is run by a lawyer and he does not show up in court? Don't feel bad guys they don't respect the law or courts either.

Did they get sued in Boston? Small claims often allows you to sue in your own county or the county where the event took place. Check your local court system you might be able to get a Judgment in your county of residence. Or even the county you photographed at, file for the max allowed if they are failing to show you might be able to sue for more that you are owed and also collect for punitive damages as they continue to act recklessly and without regard to local ordinances regarding payment of contractors.

Yes in Boston, the maximum is $7k, and that was what was awarded. I found it all online so it is all factual. A lawyer owning a company gets sued and is a no show in court. Doesn't pay is biggest asset and the core people that make him money, yeh I will want to work for them. How can anybody trust this company?
