To me the big challenge of wildlife pics is finding those comps that are not only photographically pleasing but also tell and explain a wildlife story. This series excelled at both!

Thanks Dave. Appreciate it.

I am a bit late to the party but have to say how wonderful these are. Getting a little black with envy with you Nikon guys showing off your new toys. I would really like to know how you really feel about the gear outside of web sized images.
Brilliant shots Harsha...but of course anything less would have been a total surprise.
Eric
Hi Eric,
It is a nice body for sure. We Nikon guys have been waiting almost 7 years for a semi pro crop sensor camera and finally Nikon listened.
If your coming from a high megapixel camera (d800) like I am, this 20MP camera doesn't give the same flexibility to crop. But my 200-400 camera with a 1.4TC is now a capable handholdable setup. It is great for mammals and large birds. Noise is the best of all crop cameras but still at least a stop behind when compared to a full frame body. Shadow recovery is good too.
I have been experimenting with the new highlight priority metering mode and it seems to work. Images are slightly darker to preserve the highlights but shadow recovery of the sensor allows to recover the shadows in PP.
Lot to learn
Thanks

My word, what a fine set. I have a kayak trip coming up at Pt. Reyes. Hoping I might see a loon or two. I am bringing a 100-400 just in case.
100-400 should work and a great lens to kayak with. Thanks
