Thanks Fred, after looking at these shots I sort of had a feeling this was a reasonable result for a goodish copy of this lens. The main purpose for this lens is to have a small and light UWA lens to take hiking along with my other primes. I can use my ZE 15 when I need the speed or maybe ultimate quality (I'll have to compare them.)

Tim,
I think you got a good copy.
Here is how your extreme corner would look with vignetting, CA correction and LR sharpening (45, 0.7, 25, 0)
Finally a decent E-mount version. (this was at f/5.6)

First of all, thanks Fred and Guy for all the tests. I received my e-mount version today and did a quick check. I have the M-mount version as well, and my e-mount version performs better at extreme corners. The image below was taken at f11 (the aperture that I use most for the type of shots I do with ultra wide focal). The next image is an unscaled crop from the weakest corner of my copy (the bottom right corner). Vignetting and CA correction have been applied.

Looks very good . Note your probably getting a little diffraction at F11, so F8 would serve you slightly better but if you need the DOF than you need it so use it. Just something to be aware of as on the A7rII diffraction hits at F11 but that corner looks nice. Nice to see folks getting some good copies. This is encouraging for sure

OK, while I rarely do these tests, you all have me wondering. The sun just came out after days of rain but all I could do for now is take a couple of test shots through a somewhat dirty window. Both sets are at f/11. SOOC + lens profile applied. To me this looks like a decent result . . . yes?

Thanks Tim. Makes me wonder if I should take a chance and move to the E-Mount or leave well enough alone and stay with my M-Mount.
I'm in the same boat. I just submitted an order for the E-mount version and figure I'll test the lens and if it is at least as good as my M mount version I'll buy it for the native E-mount lens benefits. I'm not in any rush to accept a mediocre performing lens so I'll send back as many as I need to until I find a good one. I'm hoping my luck is good and I'll get a good one first attempt

Use F8 folks . Stay away from F11 as its starting to diffract at least for your tests. Remember Choppy is there at f5.6 . And slightly better at F8 buts starts to diffract at F11. For real shooting F11 will be fine for near to far shots for DOF. Are you fixing CA in these as well. Because I'm not seeing it which is great but good for us to know when viewing.

That's the way to look at it. Fred's got a couple coming and if he has a great 2nd copy than I'll buy it from him but I'm not giving up Choppy until I find a great copy. I would like the E as well

For 15mm landscape, most case f8 won't cut it for DOF once you level your camera well.
True but if you are shooting static scenes on a tripod just do a few exposures with focus stacking at 5.6 to f/8 and you can produce a great result with plenty of DOF.
