I did not know that the MC-11 disables IBIS for an IS lenses. Can you post the reference?
Thanks.
The IBIS setting is OFF and greyed out whenever any of my Canon IS lenses (35 F2, 24-70 F4 and 70-200 F4) is attached. I have the latest MC-11 firmware and a recent (v2.0 still as a caution) A7R3 firmware. And of course it is actually disabled (the image jumps when IS is disabled in the lens). I doubt there are official statements about this (theoretically we should use only Sigma lenses with this adapter). And I don't know if this also applies to Sigma lenses (I don't own any stabilized Sigma lens).
Thanks for the info. I have been shooting almost all sports so I turned off the Steady shot when I got the camera and never paid any attention. I just attached my 70-200 II and sure enough the Steady Shot greyed out.
I use all sorts of Canon lenses, with and without IS, and have no difficulty for semi-stationary general photography. Functions are nearly identical to use on Canon bodies, and at times even better with some of the Sony features such as magnified view when switched to manual focus (or using MF lenses such as TS-E). I opted to buy a lightly used copy of the EF 24-70/2.8L II rather than native GM model -- IQ is basically a toss-up, but the savings were tremendous. I'm also extremely happy with my choice to purchase the 16-35/4L IS after I was already investing in the Sony system -- much rather own than the Sony 16-35/4.
I own two MC-11 and use them often on two separate a7R2 bodies without any trouble. Plus, since I've kept my Canon DSLR bodies, I have full versatility there to use lenses on multi-platform and look forward to eventually buying Canon's newest R body and its EF to R adapter.
Of course I own some excellent Sony (e.g. 12-24/4 G, which are not comparatively available in other brands) and Zeiss Loxia lenses -- just so you don't think I'm looking down on Sony lenses.
Just trying to cover all bases at the most reasonable financial outlay and obtain highest IQ from the lens investment.

Yes, some Canon lenses work even better in Sony than in Canon, like the TSE. Focusing is a joy and Av mode becomes usable with movements.
But since getting the EVF I'm now increasingly doing MF also with AF lenses and I find annoying the fact that Canon IS and magnification can not be combined in a easy way. Unless there were some trick I don't know. Since IBIS is engaged in magnified view (fortunately also with Canon lenses) I expect that Sony lenses with IS also engage it while in magnified view (I don't own one so I can't confirm the point). It is easier to MF or use focus peaking at 12.4x magnification with a stabilized image.
I don't know if this is also the behaviour with sigma stabilized lenses. The MC-11 supports other features better with sigma lenses. E.g. the auto magnification by rotating the focusing ring works in a Sigma 35 Art for Canon in MF, while don't works with any of my Canon lenses. I personally don't care about this, it is a mere buttom press.

Anyone using the 100-400 II with the MC-11 have any feedback on how to best set up AF?
I have tried the combination but I am not happy with AF above about 300mm, it is really bad. From 100-250mm it seems fine. Maybe I need to play around with settings a bit. I also have a Metabones V adapter that generally works better with Canon lenses than the MC-11 but I must admit I have not tried it yet with the 100-400 II.
I have 2 Sony bodies at the moment, the A7R2 and A7R3 and I must admit for wildlife and birds I do not really like the AF when the background is cluttered, the AF tends to lock onto the background way too often regardless of the setting, here my Canon 7D2 and 1DX2 still rule. I do own a FE 100-400 so this opinion is not only based on adapted lenses.

My scenario exactly. If I use my canon 10-18mm efs with mc-11 the canon lens IS works but my a6500 steadyshot is grayed out and is not functioning.
But when i put on a non-IS lens such as my samyang 12mm manual EF lens then i get steadyshot available in the a6500 menu.
I have most current firmware on mc-11 and a6500
I'm just happy that i could hack the mc-11 to actually use ef-s lenses.
Overall I'm happy with the mc-11. Surprised it actually worked decent with my 100-400 II and 1.4x iii on the a6500. It was just a test..I'm not giving up my 80d or 6dII anytime soon....the A7iii interests me by I get pretty creative with the fully articulating screens the a7iii lacks...and also i'm terrible at taking care of my gear in bad weather/beaches. So far canon weather sealing has been excellent...and I hear negative stuff on the seals on the a7iii. Maybe if it ever gets to cheapo price lol

Can't solve the swivel screen thing, but you shouldn't have to worry about "bad weather/beaches". I've got a couple of A6300s that have been rained on, snowed on, and iced up many times. Had a backyard wedding this year that was held under a tent because of constant rain. Had to go outside the tent for more than a few shots, to get to the main house, etc. The cameras were drenched, the most they've ever been, but neither skipped a beat at any time (same with the attached Godox flashes). Also lived right near the beach for 2 of the 3 years I've owned the cameras. Went there a ton in the off season to shoot surfing, birds, sunrises/sunsets, etc. Sand and dust never affected anything. Can't see the A7 III, a camera costing 2x as much, being any worse at weather sealing.
There's supposed to be 200+ posts in the older thread, but I keep getting stuck in a loop that only shows the more recent posts. Anyone else running into this issue?

The MC-11 permanently disables IBIS when a Canon IS lens is attached. So, IS lenses can only use the lens IS, and IBIS is only available on lenses with no IS.

This is my only real criticism of the MC-11.
Interesting, have not noticed that but I have mostly been using the MC-11 with Sigma lenses and the Metabones V with my Canon and Tamron lenses. On the Metabones both IS and IBIS works on the lenses I have tried giving an amazing level of stabilization!
While playing with a Sigma 120-300 f/2.8 OS + 2x TC I id notice that the Metabones works a bit better than the MC-11, was quite surprised.
Received a Sigma 160-600 Sport today and I must say I love it on my A7RM3 with the MC-11! Shot it side by side with a new Canon 600L IS f/4 III and it was surprisingly close to the Canon in sharpness at 600mm, AF also closer that I expected. My 600L will stay home a lot more now as the Sigma is simply more convenient when I move around and the IQ difference is not that much.

Does Eye-AF work with the MC-11 and a Canon 70-200 2.8 IS II lens on the A7 III?
Thanks
I don't have the A7 III but I do have A9 which utilizes the same focus system and Eye-AF works with the A9 and my Canon 70-200 2.8 IS II.
I believe I have seen you tube videos that show the Eye AF with the A7III and Canon 70-200 2.8 IS II.
I have been getting great results with the MC-11 on a variety of Canon, Sigma and Tamron lenses, but the best result on longer (more than 300mm) lenses seem to be with Sigma lenses where AF is concerned, mostly using an A7RM3/2 bodies. I am mostly more than happy with AF and IQ for stationary subjects. I have not really tried it for moving objects yet but basic tests seems to indicate that it will work well. Will try it at the race track and for BIF soon. The exception to the "more than 300mm" finding would be the Canon 400 f/2.8, 500 f/4 and 600 f/4 primes that also AF really well.
Below is a photo taken with the A7RM3, MC-11, 2x converter (Sigma) and a Sigma 120-300 f/2.8 OS. Taken at 600mm, f/5.6, ISO 3200 and 1/125sec hand held.

Thanks for sharing this, can you tell me if this is the Sport or non sport version and if it is the non sport older version are you seeing native options show up with the MC11? I'd love to get this lens and love the idea of getting the lighter and cheaper older version as it has the same optics with the MC11 but prefer full AF support. I'll be using it for sports.

Anyone using the Canon 135mm 2.0 USM together with the MC-11 (on an A7III)
How does it perform? And: Does Eye-AF work?
Thanks a lot!
I think there is a video by a Sony Artisan showing the eye AF with Canon 135 and a A7RII, I don't remember the adapter but I think it was the Sigma. I would expect same for better with the A7III.
I have this lens on an A7RIII at home with the metabones and it works great. I also have the MC11, I'll give it a shot when I get home and report back. I believe I have used it on the A7R2 when I had that with MC11 but I recall preferring it on the MB.

Wow, that would be great! I highly appreciate your efforts! Especially if you got the comparison with the Metabones which will make it easier for people like me to make a decision which one is the one to go with this lens!
