Just called with my local dealer. Canon Netherlands has delivered 1 camera per dealer... (with a total of 9 units in the entire country)
So much for being #3 on the preorder list.
Batch 2 is TBA...

And CPS is not picking up the phone. Go figure...
Well, you have to wonder whether they regard the camera as launched today at all since the EOS-1D X Mark II is not among "current cameras" but the newer 80D is:

Back in 2012 CPS Europe even made a news article when the EOS-1D X started shipping to pro dealers in Europe, but today there is silence.
Then i still find it pretty odd that the ones that have received their units are no explorers of light or in high places with canon, yet they still have received their preorder. So there's no embargo if you ask me, just lucky ones.
That doesn't take away the fact that i am happy for those that did receive their unit.

Canon Canada told them they have a prelim order coming but only enough to fill 1/10th of the preorders
good news for me .. Mine is shipping on Monday!!!! (I preorderd the day it was announced)
Now..If I continue to sell off things around here I don't need.... I may even be able to pay for it by the time it comes due on my CC

* note .. the price of the original 1DX is still pretty steep... (maybe that price will slide once the version 2 becomes actually available) yes, this one a couple K more, but I am really looking forward to the updated autofocus.
So why is getting one of first batch so beneficial or important? You guys really make me wonder. Some say they really need it for an upcoming event but with so many anxious awaits, most of you must simply be eager to get one in your hands. Am I far off?
Don't get me wrong it's absolutely fantastic that we will see you report soon on how good it actually is. I admit that this cameras figure will eat away my gear budget for a couple of years so it better deliver as promised. Therefore I preordered late in the game. Seeing we got only 9 in our entire country is excellent

It's not incredibly important to me as a hobbyist but after selling my 1DX last month, im out a full frame camera. Ive been using the 80D in the mean time but im itching to get back on full frame.
Part of my excitement is just having new tech. After using the 80D there's some of features i'm so glad are coming to the 1DX II. Touch screen, video/liveview AF, anti-flicker, better dynamic range, etc.

New toy......the 1Dx was such a massive improvement in so many ways over all the cameras I had before, and I had most of them.
I am hoping the noise difference for me is better, auto focus is supposed to be better and slightly higher frame speed....also the buffer....with 1Dx when I am firing with large jpg and raw it doesn't take long to fill the buffer....happened recently at my sons 1/2 Ironman event in Galveston, Texas. When he is on the bike coming at you and then in a turn and away, the last thing you want is the buffer to fill up and unload...that happened there to me.....grrrr...here are two of the photos I did get....sorry about the quality, picked this off his Facebook post.
Thanks guys. Yes for me a part is new tech as well but another part is stepping into the high fps and 1D world permanently. New challenges mostly. And finally a good reason to sell my 5D2.
@Herb: good shots, your son will be glad to have a dad as photographer...
I'm just looking forward to getting out and shooting again. It was hard selling my only camera body to cover the cost of the 1DX, but I'm extremely excited about 14fps, amazing AF and high ISO capabilities.
On a side note, Amazon did not ship out my 1DX today as indicated in my account, but it's still showing an arrival time of May 4th. I spoke with customer service and she said they would be overnighting it tomorrow (Not sure why it did not ship today, as they withdrew the funds this afternoon). Amazon has had weird shipping practices lately.
