since this became the Dutch post....here is another reason to go....The Keukenhof, when all the bulb dealers in the Netherlands come together to showcase their flowers.....it is a sight to behold.....here is a sample of what you might see there....we have been there 4 times.....lovely place to go and a great country!
Ahh the tulips and windmills again. Gotta love those
Something a Dutch sees as much as a New Yorker sees Times Square.
Next time you pay a visit please do yourself and us a favor and pay a visit to some 'less known' places and structures like the Centraal Station or Markthal in Rotterdam. Or the 'Kubuswoningen' while you are still there. And want to see Amsterdam's canals but less touristy, go to Delft.
Then if you like technology, where the Dutch are pretty groundbreaking at as well, e.g. TU in Delft (that are working on a prototype for the new hyperloop trains and probably win all solar challenge races every year). Or Philips in Eindhoven (they have a museum as well) that developed the Compact Disk, and are currently a huge player in led lighting and hospital equipment like CT/CAT scanners.
And last but not least. Talking about sealevels and dykes. The Dutch know pretty well how to keep water out, and are asked to lecture abroad about how we manage that for decades. Also in US and Canada. If you are interested, visit the 'Deltawerken Oosterschelde'.

Is there somebody out there who heard when the new D XII hit the market.
Here in Europe a dealer said, they'll arrive next week!
I'm curious if someone knows more. Is the first batch on his way?
As a dutchman I like this topic. I would like to make an on-topic remark, if I may? I contacted my CPS rep yesterday. He said 1Dx2 is delayed and they are expecting a demo in july.

Best,

Thank you for that info, Mark.
I think it is in everybody's best interest that the production cameras work (e.g. focus) right, and if they have to delay the deliveries in order to ensure that, so be it.
Canon probably knows that there are many 1DXII buyers around the world who will not reflexively sing praises to it, but who will collectively test its AF feature to death perhaps more critically than what the Canon's own field test program might have been.
With prototypes still in the hands of select photographers I can't believe we will see it any time soon. I'm betting we won't see the first production bodies until mid-July. And those will go to photographers with Olympic credentials.
Yes me too. I've used 1D2N (very good), 1D3 (2 bad ones) and 1D4 (two very good ones). Canon needs to make the 1Dx2 perfect. I can wait. Topic seems a bit premature.

Don't know your source but just got off the phone with CPS and they say end of May for the first batch. Second batch will probably ship 3 weeks after.
I just queried the possible delay of the 1DXii with my CPS rep and he said they've been given no information regarding the release date. I'm sure not why CPS reps in different countries would have info others don't, if that's what has happened.
"Dear Stuart,
Thank you for your email and for contacting Canon.
Unfortunately we don’t have information on stock and release dates etc.
I would recommend contacting your retailer as all retailers have Canon account managers that have more detailed information regarding stock availability, release dates and fulfilling orders etc

To me he said that the July story is just a rumor that's going round (he told me that he already got some panicking mails about it) and if you didn't place your preorder already there's a fair chance your unit will ship in July because of the limited number of units that will ship in the first 2 batches.
I don't think Canon wants to revisit the 1D3 fiasco so I would assume they are doing their best to lock down everything as tight as possible before release. Their only real deadline would be making sure they have bodies in the hands of pro's ahead of the Olympics. Doubt they would want to miss that event.
Seems to me Nikon is under a little more pressure with the D5 as they have had more body related issues crop up lately.
