No lockups since the 1.05 firmware upgrade. My new 17-40 and old 70-200 are sharp as a tack, but my new 50 1.8II isn't that sharp all the time wideopen. This is user error though. It's my first 1.8 and it is soooo easy to focus and move forward a little and get what was in focus, out of focus.
Love the camera. I don't intend updating for 2 or 3 years.

The 50/1.8 wide open at F1.8 gets a bit tricky .. expect one out of three shots in a sequence to be a tad soft. It has to do with the lens AF. At other apertures it is quite good and sharp
I've only shot a couple of hundred images yet but no problems. Very happy with AF and speed of use. Happy customer and for a great price. I paid twice as much for the D30 which needed manual focusing half of the time!
Have shot more than 1000 frames in RAW+JPEG mode without the slightest problem (touch wood!) so far. Works like a charm. Didn't even bother with the firmware update.
I've been using 10DCSPro with my 20D files, works fine. I'd be curious to see what the difference would be.

Before the firmware upgrade I had one lockup and couldn't get the battery grip to work with the AA adapter at all. After the upgrade to 1.0.4 (still haven't installed 1.0.5) and putting better batteries in the AA adapter, no issues at all. However, I haven't given the AA adapter a real workout. I have 6 BP-511's and 2 BP-511A's so I don't think I'll have much need for the AA adapter.
Yes, I had one lockup since upgrading to firmware 1.0.5...was shooting some tennis using the 20D with 135/2 L. Camera was working fine then all of a sudden the shutter wouldn't release. I was shooting in AV and I could change the settings on the LCD but the shutter wouldn't fire. Shut down the camera, popped out the battery and put it back in and everything was fine for the rest of the day. Was using a Sandisk Ultra II 1GB card. It wasn't a real hassle to pop the battery out, but hopefully Canon can resolve this once an for all.
