I actually did back off the sharpening on these! Maybe I need to shoot this combo more and get it dialed in more.

Oh crap, I just realized you shot the one against the snow at iso 12,800! Considering you probably got a bit of whatever reflected light remained from the white snow it must have been really dark....just goes to show that getting the right exposure even at high ISO one can get superb results

Spot meter is your friend! And that isn't snow, background is the reflected twilight sky off of the water and the white in the foreground is white caliche gravel on the bank. It does look like snow and made the exposure sort of like shooting snow. Certainly contrasty. I actually would like it be snow but alas it wasn't.

Not sure what the heck I was thinking re: snow. And yes, like you, I do spot meter as my routine but still at 12.8 that is an awesome shot.

Thanks Scott. That camo shot was one of the few that you could actually make out there was a bobcat in there. When it had its eyes closed it almost disappeared completely.

All fantastic shots - if forced to pic, it would be the last one for me.

Did you hear the NPR story a week or so ago about bobcats in Nevada being trapped for their fur? Very sad.
