A little awkward moment for this egret (I am sure he has seen worse) when it tries to swallow this snake. Head part of the snake is already down the throat but the second half is still out and coiled around the egret bill.
Here's my two from the second half of the year. I got distracted by landscapes, but got lucky with the light the few time I made it out to shoot birds.
The "Best of ... " thread is always enjoyable but I must say I am blown away this year. The images posted here are truly outstanding! Congratulations to each and every contributor. Q1 to Q3 were a 'flop' for me but some of my mojo came back in Q4. Here are two of the better ones:

Well I really missed out getting my pictures in this year, such a wonderful assortment of images as usual this year. I always make a point to send people to this thread when I want to show the best wildlife photos...it's been a really busy time for me...including all the eagle pictures I've been taking the last few days and tonight it's another band's New Year's show.
