I must chime in here...
I'm super excited about the NEW RX1Rii. Have had both the RX1 and the RX1R (many times over) and I've had the A7s and the A7r (not the newest versions). I fell in love with the RX1 photos. There's something that is just magical about the photos. I love the fact that the RX1 is small and producing such wonderful photos. I hike, mountain bike and fly fish a lot; therefore, carrying an A7 with a couple lens is no fun. I actually hate the fact that I always contemplate which lens to use with a interchangeable lens camera, I feel I loose the intimacy of taking the photo.
The only problem (besides the slow AF) I had with the RX1 was no have a EVF. I hated using the external EVF and I never felt connected with the camera using the LCD screen. So now I welcome the newest version with the EVF!!
I feel the same, I have times when I feel like I'm suffering from analysis paralysis. I don't mind shooting on the rear screen though, I find myself doing it more now cause of my kids. I find myself shooting from lower angles now and the overly sensitive eye sensor is annoying as heck. Being able to shoot without having the screen turn off every few seconds but being able to use an EVF when needed is going to be nice.

I feel I'd personally need the add-on eye cup, so putting than on/off, until I end up losing it (and I'm sure a replacement will be crazy overpriced), or trying to keep it on and just not retracting the EVF but then having new issues fitting into a bag etc, seems like it would just rehash the same problems I had with the add-on EVF.

Never is a free lunch
I reserve judgment until I see how easy it is to attach and detach the add-on eye cup.

Yea way overpriced for me at least . That's 2 baits lenses plus pocket change.
I asked my wife what she thought about me adding the RX1RII when I can't take the a7rII and all the lenses. She asked how much and when I told her the price, she just laughed and laughed and laughed.
I really think this is will be a perfect small camera to take when I can't haul everything with me. But I can't get it at that price.
I guess I'll have to wait until the price drops... sigh...

As they say, it's better to ask for forgiveness rather than permission.

That's why I didn't tell my wife what I was doing. But I'll decide which I'm going to keep, either the RX1RII or the a7rII, one or the other, most likely not both.

My strategy is to actually buy it for HER!
Once it's forgotten and left on the corner of her closet, it becomes MINE!
This is the secret to a long marriage (21 years and counting)

Does anybody know if RX1RII can give up RAW in x1.5 and x2 crop mode? RX1 doesn't allow to get RAW at crop mode. Of course we can crop on post-processing stage, but the possibility to compose a picture seeing it as it is (like with 50 or 70mm lens) from the very beginning and in RAW format would save time and - last but not least - let have much more fun taking photos.

Ok, I understand the attractiveness of a compact, large-aperture lens camera (in my previous
life, I used to have an Olympus Epic with a 35mm f/2.8 lens).
But no IBIS or OS, no 4K detracts from its utility. The biggest gripe from me is the price. At maybe $1,500 or so I can see how it can be a nice addition to one's arsenal; at more than twice that, I see it as a posh status symbol.
It's funny, but I just posted to the recent Leica pen/lighter thread about status symbols and conspicuous consumption.
The RX1 isn't a cheap camera by any means, but I don't really see it as posh (though it is expensive, it's not really "elegant" or "having qualities associated with wealth") or a status symbol. If anything, it looks like a normal point and shoot to most people, makes the photographer not look like a DSLR-toting pro, and given the specs (FF, lens type and quality) it's actually towards the bottom of the price range for the category.
Yeah, it's a luxury to be able to buy something like this in the global scheme of things (wealth)-- but this isn't a $50K watch, or $2000 pen, where the alternatives are orders of magnitude cheaper, and you're paying big bucks in part (not only) because of the status it confers in some kind of conspicuous way.
Thanks for finding this. Looks much improved, still not lightning fast, but for what seems like indoors, mixed lighting environment, should be more than satisfactory.

I'd like this feature, and would also find an in-camera down-sampled 24mp and 12mp raw mode useful as well.
Like a Corvette that can run off 4 cylinders at highway speeds to conserve energy, these high megapixel cameras need an easy button and still give you that dynamic range in RAW.

It looks like we won't have that for RAW but at least they added the 1:1 and 4:3 aspect ratios as RAW "crop modes".
