p.3 #1 · Announced: RX1R II with 42MP sensor and EVF

TBH, this fix pretty much all flaws RX1 has. A stellar camera.

p.3 #2 · Announced: RX1R II with 42MP sensor and EVF

Finally a small 35mm camera with leaf shutter, viewfinder, and hotshoe. Now we will be able to use outdoor fill flash at 1/2000th without lugging around huge studio stobes. The Rx1 could almost do this, but not quite since there was no viewfinder if you were using the hotshoe for flash. No viewfinder = impossible to use outdoors in sunshine. Previously our only alternative for outdoors was one of the 1" cameras (RX100/RX10/FZ1000, or Hasselblad/Mamyiya/Phase MF).

The Fuji X100/S/T has a leaf shutter, built-in OVF/EVF, universal hot shoe, in-camera ND filter and is capable of shooting flash/strobes at fast shutter speeds at a fraction of the price of RX1 I/II. Though it's an APS-C sensor and only 16mp.

Love this concept except the fixed lens and price. We all remember where the original RX1 ended up. The RX1 does not re-sell well.

This iteration has numerous improvements however the price is a deal killer for me. If....it was half this price, it would out-sell anything else of similar offering.

Considering that the Sony A7R-II is cheaper now than this model, and has much more to offer in a slightly larger package is worth thinking through. I've got the A7R-II and its stellar in all regards IMO.

Lastly, I've always felt a travel camera was intended for quick snaps of people, places and things as you travel and that a large MP camera was not needed. To each their own.

The A7R is small enough for me for travel, and can obviously take a few different lenses.

Probably a good thing it's so expensive, as I still sorta want one, and the price will ensure I'm not too tempted.

Maybe I can sell my a7R for $2200 now and declare it a bargain.

I guess we can't have it all, but IBIS instead of low pass business please. I wonder what the VF will do to power consumption. The battery life in the rx1 was pretty crappy. Oh well. I'll probably get one in a year or so. And I've read the color on the a7rii is better, so I hope they translate this with the sensor/cfa combo.

my biggest (and only) complaint was the screen not tilting up. They fixed even that!
Incredible. BTW Canon just released an amazing M10 or something

Oh no. I want one.
Using the highest resolution sensor in this kind of camera makes perfectly sense as the only way you can zoom is digitally.
But it still doesn't have IBIS

I think with this camera and lens, it is a necessity to having a filter tame moire.

How much would a Leica user pay for this tech. 8000, 10000? Lol

Funny thing is I'm usually the guy that says price is secondary. Not this time

...and I'm usually the guy screaming that Sony has lost their mind, as in the case of that initial A7r II price (which has already started dropping significantly). Not for this one though! Looks like I need to start saving.

$4200 Canadian..... Ouch!
At these prices, it's going to be a long while till I upgrade from my A7r.

I love my RX1R and will probably wait to see the first pics taken with Mark II, but geeze,
they've been crashing the competition lately.
I would love to be that fly on the wall in Canon's headquarter conference room...

I'm in the minority I'm sure but I really miss the pop-up flash. It's quite handy for fill because of the fast sync speeds of the leaf shutter.

This is doubly useful for me as my Alpha bodies obviously don't have a flash.

I also have to say that while the rx100 popup evf is cool for what it is, I don't exactly enjoy using it, and it's miles from the experience of the a7rII. As such, not sure how much I'd use the evf honestly.

I think my current rx1, with its popup flash, and value of about 1\3rd the new one is the best value for me to stick with

What am I missing? What does this lack compared to an A7r II (other than interchangeable lenses, of course)? Seems to me it has pretty much everything, plus a lens, for only $100 more. Why are people saying this is way overpriced?

IBIS and the way larger EVF are pretty handy features to me.

Interchangeable lenses are kind of a big deal for a camera this pricey because it means it's not a versatile dslr replacement camera. IBIS is also missing.

Yea as a Pro it's kind of hard to justify without interchangeable lenses and becomes a one horse pony. Not saying I don't want , I do but I could buy a second A7rII for the same money. Now for travel and the hobbyist that wants small this is awesome. Like I said 2400 I could sneak that in the bag.
