Just saw an announcement, on the PetaPixel YouTube channel that Zeiss has let the world know that the Zeiss Loxia lenses are officially discontinued. I only have the 21, 35, and 50mm version and admit on my newer Sony bodies don’t use them as often but still love them. Too bad.
Was also a big fan of their ZM cousins but mistakenly sold the Zeiss Ikon I bought them for.
Wasn’t sure if the announcement was already covered in this tread. Sorry if was.
I have 4 of the 5 and use them often still. Even the reported weakest the 35, is a special lens in it's own way. Popping and unique rendering. I wouldn't call the group character lenses, but they have a certain look about them. Zeiss retires some good stuff.
If discontinued, these lenses will be around for a long time. Have used them since first release (21/35/50) and even after heavy use still in excellent condition.
Guess their value will go up over the years, but no way I will be getting rid of them 😊
Spectacular B/W Manu! Looks like the world has come to an end here!
