Both taken with the Loxia 50/2. Which one do you prefer?
The first, but the fence on bottom right corner is distracting (bottom left rocks also don't for me, river is much better in second one), so I would either crop bottom out OR take mountains and sunlit trees from #1 image and combine them to #2, as your shooting position changed quite a lot this may require drawing the layer masks and performing some corrections manually.

I prefer the second one. But the foreground of the first is very nice for details. Sort of a toss up between them.
Didn't you shoot this same subject a few years ago with more dramatic lighting? I seem to recall it was also the L50. I prefer that one, from memory. Could we see that one to compare? (Please, please! )

Good memory Jim! I have many shots from this location because I never felt I nailed it. This is really my favorite and was shot with the FE 55/1.8 ZA. Yes at f/2!!
(Sorry for posting on the Loxia thread)

Sounds like surgery Samuli and probably the reason I posted two images. I also like elements from both.
Thanks for the feedback

I love both images taken with the loxia but this one is fantastic!

I wonder how the Loxia 35 performs compared to the CV 40 for landscape? I may pick up a small prime in this range, mostly for landscape.
I was wondering the same thing (wanted to replace the L35 and L50 with the CV40) but ended up keeping all 3
I'm planning to test them against each other but I can already say that the CV is more versatile (faster, lovely rendering at 1.2 even if a LOT of purple fringing) and I prefer the handling.
Finally got the Loxia 85 courtesy of a forum member. Thanks @genji!
it's definitely contrastier at f4 than the ZM, which makes these sort of intimate landscapes with a moderately blurred background have more pop.
Grass Tree and Sunshine Wattle against blackened Eucalypts, early morning.
This is one from my "Midnight in Sweden" series. I was a little late on the spot and probably missed a dreamlike sunset. At least it's what I'm thinking every time when I see the pictures. To get rid of this feeling I made a retouch of one of them. It should also get a touch of landscape painting from the 19th century.
I hope you forgive me the artistic disaster. Here's the original on Flickr.

I was on the fence but you make me miss the Lox 35. Anyone want to swap a VM 40/1.2 for a Lox 35?
I just did this (or the opposite of this, depending on how you look at it) after much deliberation. As much as I love the 40 1.2, landscapes with the Lox 35 really have something to them that seem to catch my eye every time.
As such, my new 35 should arrive early next week, and I can't wait to try it out

Also, Fred, that image is stunning. Where is it? Reminds me of (or maybe is?) the Boiling River in Yellowstone NP. Have not been there for quite some time.
I went yesterday through the whole thread and it looks like you use "sr app"? is some of your pictures. What is this?
also I discover a technique i did knew, the so called focus staking.
Thanks and best regards!

It was taken at Inyo National Forest in California.

Thank you! SR stands for "Smooth Reflections". It's a built-in app offered for many Sony cameras. Unfortunately Sony disabled Playmemories apps on newer cameras.
Here is more info on it: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1403764
