now , I buy Loxia 35 50 or buy Loxia 85 , which is better?
Hi
Considering that you already have the cv40 I would say the 85...
Or an alternative would be to go for the loxia 50 and the zm85 used for the price of the loxia 85. The 50 is really great for landscape and the zm85 looks like a good alternative to the loxia. Slower but much lighter and smaller.

Hi Danny, thanks for responding. The images I'm seeing from that Loxia 85 look outstanding!
I have extension tubes, but don't like carrying the extra bulk just in case I find a subject I'd like to get closer to. Same for close-up diopter lenses. I've had quite a difficult time finding any close focusing 85 and 135 lenses that are reasonable priced. To get around it, I can use my 90 TS-E or 100L, but until I got the focusing helicoid, I couldn't have an 85 shoot from close-focus to infinity without changing.
As you might have guessed, I don't like changing lenses outdoors if I can avoid it.
I wish designers could manage to get the MFD down to about 0.5m instead of around 1m for most 85 and 135. Fortunately, I don't shoot these FLs very often, so it's not a big issue, just one of my few optical complaints. ...Show more →
Jim, the 85/4 ZM with either a VM-E or a Hawks helicoid adapter would meet your criterial for a close focusing 85, though I'm not sure whether you would regard that combo as reasonably priced. I intended to sell mine once I had the Loxia 85 and the FE 85 but it's so small and light compared to those lenses and such a great performer that I've held on to it.

Thanks for the advice, Jonathan. Since I only use it a couple times a year (at most) I think I'll stay for now with my Samyang 85/1.4 and helicoid adapter. I may change my mind if I sell my 90 TSE and find I only cover 85 with the Samyang and zooms.
The VC 65/2 macro is really calling my name though!
Some from yesterday in the belgian coast with the 35 and 50 (in the first one the foreground is clearly out of focus )
That was my first outing with the 35 and it looks like it is clearly less sharp at infinity. I'm wondering if the infinity is not past the hard stop...

humbled by all the incredible images .. just bought GMPhotography's 21m . looking south to Denver from a ridge in western Boulder. taken this am.
not sure what the appropriate image size is so this is an exported JPEG
No issues with my new Sony A7r III in -4 Fahrenheit temps. This image was taken hand held.
I am hoping to add a Loxia 50 and a 28mm (or 25) Loxia if one becomes available.
