After spotting a beautiful desert fox out in the red sands of Canyonlands. I'd never seen one before, and as I fumbled trying to get my camera out; she was gone. So fleeting... Anyway I continued my journey and eventually I made it to this location as the sun was going down so I thought I'd try my hand with some landscapes (seems like forever). Nothing overly dramatic, but very serene and dead quiet. Thanks for looking!

Ok, as someone had asked if I'd shot any wider than 45mm, I also took several with a 24mm tilt-shift too. I've just added the second upload with the 24mm. I was hesitant to do that as I don't like redundancy and fear they are too similar. But, what the heck, it was a great view that day!

Beautiful light on this pleasing scene, Craig. And there's water! Here in CA we love anything with water in it.

Hey Craig,

This one is really nice. I like how you are down there in the river bend itself. I have only ever shot from up on top of those river bends, I am going to have to get down in there one day as that perspective is super cool.

Nice early morning warm light! The reflection of the sky & cliffs really add to the photo. Sorry that you weren't able to get a photo of the fox. At least you got to witness her.

Very nice image. Too bad you missed the fox, wildlife can be hard to shoot. Rocks are moving too, but much, much slower....

Thank you very much everyone! It's a place I go by occasionally, and yet, it's normally dull and uninteresting. This day it was showing off in all it's splendor. It's all luck and the time of year, location of the sun I'm guessing.

As far as the fox, I've never seen one out there before, and it wasn't just a fox. It was perfectly side lit, standing in hot red sand, sun lighting it's eyes up, bushy tail, just looking at me with inquiring eyes. A textbook shot right out of a Steve Perry wildlife book! But I missed it, because I was unprepared...

Just a heads up, effective tomorrow, a permit is required for any day use of the White Rim, Elephant Hill, and certain other places in Canyonlands. Ever since the Park Service groomed and paved the White Rim, the traffic has become crazy. https://canypermits.nps.gov/index.cfm
