Will, with the 200-500 in group A/F, is there a difference between performance on the D810 and the D500? Using the D810, I haven't had the greatest luck w the correct point selecting when shooting small subjects such as this.

You can see I'm fishing for more ways to add the D500 to my kit! (The D810 stays too, what a dream it's been.) Oh, and yes... I love the heck out of my 200-500!

Howdy, Bill. The Group AF is indeed a step up from that of the D810. Covers a larger
area in the VF (but there's something else going on besides the differences w/ FX vs DX)
With the D810 I used it primarily when the target was clean, the D500 locks on with all
sorts of crap in the way...I love it. Happy 'fishing'

After far too many months, was finally able to get out and walk around the swamp/marsh.

Realized that my technique needs some practice after so many months not using the 200-500 .

Despite the heat , humidity , lack of birds and biting bugs , it was so nice to be out . Found a couple of low flying birds .

All handheld .

From what I see in this thread, the D500 and 200-500 were made for each other. Awesome pictures everyone.

You bet, Rich. The backgrounds are almost as good
as with my 500 f4 VR. Nikon nailed 'em both.

If one has the 150-600 sport, is there any reason to bother with the 200-500, from an IQ standpoint?

If it's the Sigma Sports, then don't bother, else trade it in. 😊
