Great shots, what made you pick this up again? Do you still have the sport and the 500 prime?

Thanks, Lauchian! I wanted something light(er) I could just throw in the truck to keep
my 24-105 f4 company. These were grabs on a Post Office run but rodeo/candid ops
show themselves often...being rural & retired. The Sportma lives on my D7200 and is
my BIF drug of choice. The D810 pairs w/ the 500 f4 VR for early/late light and for those
times I need the very best IQ/AF.
PS. I'll tune it to the 800 this weekend and my shots should be looking better.

I got the lens from Lensrentals tonight, only had time for a quick test at sunset with my D810 + TC14III. Looks good so far, tomorrow night I will check it out on a paid shoot using the moon.
So far, seems like a great lens, especially for the money.

I have watched this thread from the beginning and have oscillated back and forth about owning this lens. Thanks to….or perhaps because of, the comments and images by those contributing in the thread, I stole enough money to purchase one. So far, it has exceeded my expectations. This is just a test shot of a readily available subject. The image is not perfect but considering my limited skills, it works for me.
D7100 set to 1.3 crop 200-500 f/5.6 500 mm with TC-14ii for 1400 mm f/8, 1/1000, ISO 1600

On my second outing with the lens I decided to try my "TrenchMonkey" act. Yea, not up to his standards but he probably does not have 2 German Shepherds running point in his photography crew . All of my stuff is heavy crops cause they like to make things fly :-)).

Sometimes, against a blue sky BUT with all the tress I deal with
on my stalks...9 point is my go to choice Greg. The centerpoint
usually nails it but on review I sometimes see the red rectangle
has shifted (bailing me out)

Found a eagle today, not often that happens . He was staying still ,so did some shots with and without the 1.4 EIII TC.
The distance was well over 150 Yards. Each image is 66 .7% crop .
Processed identically. Crop may be just a bit off , but not by much.
. All of my stuff is heavy crops cause they like to make things fly :-)).
