Hand held, out on a ranch. I'm totally pleased with the sharpness of this lens. I wasn't keen on the power pole, but what can you do, it's what they like. He was too pretty not to show. Unfortunately, I then switched to the Sigma 150-600mm Sport and never saw another thing.
that is such a great shot it would be worth it to take the time to clone out all the hydro lines

Did a quick search in the thread but didn't come up with anything.
I have been using mine with the TC14II and TC17II with pretty decent results. I'm not a big fan of having to shoot at f8 or higher though but with good light the images are acceptable. I found the IQ with the TC14 to be on par with the Tamron I had. I've heard that the TC14III with this lens produces even better results. You can do a search on Flickr for the lens and see several thousand real world examples taken with the TC including mine.

Thanks for posting this, I am not into wildlife photos and have just rented this for a commercial ski shoot that will have a full moon in it, was wondering how it will do at infinity and this pretty much tells it like it is, looks good.

Pretty please & thank you - could someone measure the lens with lens caps, hood on and folded back out of the way, and tell me the length. Trying to figure out if it would fit into a Pelican 1400 case. Need something packable for a backpacking project. Nikon says 267mm which will just barely fit, but I'm wondering if they measured it with the lens caps & hood attached.

The hood is irrelevant as it is further back.
Had me curious, and I measured the Sigma 150-600mm Sport right at 310mm with a lens cap, not the soft hood.

Thank you so much! I think it will be a titch too long for the 1400 case. Hmmm. Trying to situate it on my pack animals but I may have to carry it myself.

where we left off a couple of months ago. Love this lens and just
HAD to have another. Glad to be able to join in keeping this thread
alive. Must have glass for lightweight BIF & wildlife captures.
