American Kestrel from this afternoon. Not easy to sneak up on one! lol
Not the best shot but this was handheld with the TC14 on the 200-500 at f8 650mm
I think it is acceptable IQ on par with what I would expect from the Tamron at the same distance.
This is approximately a 50% crop

Yep, take the lens off and on way to often to hope and keep it clean! lol
If I really like the image I'll clone it out but didn't bother with this one.

BTW every post of yours is with a different camera body, just how many do you have

Many thanks, Mike...just paired it down to 6 Nikons and use 4 of them every week.
My D3/D2Xs come out for portraits/macro/nostalgia trips (they don't make 'em like that anymore)

Just to be fair to Nikon, the first copy I had when I tested and adjusted AF took +12 to get on target and with the TC14 was off the scale at +20 or more. I just felt that I shouldn't have to settle for it being so off. But even my second copy took +6 and +12 respectively so in hind sight I suspect my camera body off and not the lens.

Couple from my Bosque stalk yesterday. Got within 20 yds
in the 2nd shot. There were about 80 in the pasture and I
didn't spook a one. Once I left the tree line I had no cover
so it took a good 20 minutes to stalk maybe 150'. Worth it.
