One of a few with the new to me Nikkor 200-500 VR. Need to learn how to take tack sharp images that can be enlarged.
Do you have a tripod or monopod? I have a Benro that converts to a monopod but it was not good to use, too much moving around. Any suggestions/hints for using this lens will be appreciated.

This lens works best at fairly close subject distances and (as do all lenses) when there isn't any heat haze, as in your image of the heron shot across water at midday. You do want some directionality to the light, though, because you get what you pay for in the micro-contrast department.
