Cold Feet

It was quite a cold morning, and some of the cranes were having trouble breaking free of the ice that had formed on the surface of the pond they stand in overnight. I was a bit surprised when I looked at the photos for the above specimen though -- at first I mistook the ring of ice on its leg for a tracking tag!

Awful lighting again today in the UK so was hand holding down at 1/60 at 500mm , luckily the VR system on this lens is excellent
