I'll have to try that 3D tracking on wide. I am sorry..... I am assuming you captured these very high-quality wildlife documentary images with the D500 ? On my D500 I have not even given 3D a thought. Here, it seems to have done well on #4 with those cliffs so close.

Yep D500, I had left it on wide 3D tracking from motorbike racing I guess if your target can be anywhere in the frame that's the way to go.
I seem to be stuck on 3D I find it so great, Dpreview say it's class leading, I have tracked hummingbirds through flower beds.

Nice work recently everyone! Here are a few from my fave combo... D750 and 200-500. Perhaps I'll climb on the D500 bandwagon this summer (my D7100 is getting a little "long of tooth")...

Very nice, I am getting more excited to get my D500, wondering what focus mode you are using. You certainly do fantastic work!
Thanks much, Steve! Group AF 90% of the time, in traffic I'll go to single point
and I have no trouble staying on my target (get in lots of practice since retiring)
That's SOOC, BTW...remarkable body for things that move!
