You know folks as hard as the VC 15mm is to focus anyway even outside at 300 yards I'm nailing the house behind me at 12.5 and even 5x is not bad. Now I am slightly underexposing on the 15 but thats a little normal anyway.
Now someone picking this up for the first time with a extreme wide than sure its a little tough compared to like the 35mm 1.4. There slower lensers and far more DOF.
In all honesty its a non issue but I will keep my eye on things
Your welcome. I want you folks to double check me but if you are used to using the Sonys than everything looks normal to me. I would just make sure you are on that high setting.
Now my Sigma 24-70 A mount with LAE3 is working okay in AFS not bad in AFC. But not blistering either plus I don't get the center zone to work with. Seriously as much as I disliked the sony 24-70 it may actually work better on this body since it can take higher ISO's and has much nicer focusing.
Now my 5 minute uptake is holy shit this was worth waiting for. It just FEELS good, Nice and smooth on everything.
Batis 85 well that rubber gasket lets you know its there. Nice mount
If I maybe so bold to say this . I waited over a year for a body like this that operational was far better than the A7r than the A7II came along with a lot of good things well this one maybe just the freaking ticket we have been waiting for. So going forward its big positive for new owners and of course we will tear it apart and figure out some of those pesky little workarounds. But so far big thumbs up for Sony
Okay the standard setting I see things as pretty sharp but far more detail in the high setting. Mount camera on tripod and get a good focus on something than toggle the settings and you will see high just has more detail in the image. So if your set to standard focusing would be harder to do.
So this "Standard" vs "High" EVF quality setting is completely new here. I'm curious as to what penalty comes from using "High"? Battery life? Refresh rate or... I take it "High" is what we are all used to with our A7/A7r's. Is there not anything about the difference as far as usability in the manual?
Manual who reads those things. Seriously we will have to look into what it really does. My guess its faster refresh maybe for the video side of the house and my bet it will eat more battery. Im going to go play. Its hot as hell out but what the heck ( 108). Not sure what the heck I'm thinking going out in this stuff
My Sigma 24-70 2.8 is not perfect with the A7rII and the LAE3. Its okay but not fast enough. Going on the block. It worked much better with the LAE4 adapter. After 2 purchases and 5 rentals of the 24-70 Sony I actually may be going back to it. I figure I get better ISO levels than before and better AF in lower light which the 24-70 drove me nuts with. So if i can squeeze 2 extra stops of ISO than it just may perform better for the PR crap that puts food on my table. Plus I get all the AF points. So I am going to sell it but it does work nice with the LAE4 adapter if anyone wants it. Ill list it tomorrow, it will go cheap too. i think i maybe better off going native. I don't use a zoom for high end work anyway. Im a prime shooter for that

The choice is in the A7R as well. Default is Standard i believe as i had to change my setting to High.

I have my II here now, just delivered. Never used a mirrorless before, but like digital, I waited until I thought it would more or less meet my needs. I hope it works well with EOS. I have the 11-24, that I love, the 100-400II (excellent and sharp as is the 11-24) and many others. Then to Leica. Still trying to figure this thing out. Many basic function I have figured out but how to change to the high definition EVF? Guess I will crack open the users guide, but like stated, who does that. lol
104 just north of Tucson today. Not dry, we have the monsoons. Have had 115 in the past with 90% humidity. You just get used to it. It is a mind set. If you have a mind after all the heat. lol
Okay go to menu. You will see folders at the very top go to the far right folder than you will see pages . Go to page 2 than look for display quality. Hit that change to high than enter

That's like never having a car before and then buying a Ferrari Enjoy the camera!

Got it, thank you. With no lens, just looking in the EVF, I can see that in the high definition there is much less noise, so I can see how this is better just form that and I am looking at pure black for the sensor.

Sure, go post on the Canon forum or Nikon that going to the II from those is like going to a Ferrari. lol
I will say that I like the feel of the camera and already, after 30 minutes, like the controls. I am used to many different systems though so you can't cement your mind into one. Adapt and shoot!

haha, I meant starting from no mirrorless and then getting the A7rII. I always screw up my car analogies
Yes, even without a lens, where is that adapter. . . should be here in about an hour. . the EVF is noticeably better in high quality. I don't see it as an issue. I can already tell this will use the batteries but carry a few. I will also turn off the LCD when shooting normal. This will also be sweet if my Leica M lens work. I know the issue with the 35 Summicron ASPH and that is too bad as I love that lens but then I have the 90 pre ASPH Summicron and that should work as well as a couple of 50's and a nice 135. What I am also looking forward to is seeing how the EOS 135mm works (f2). It reminds me of Leica glass.

BTW I use the C1 function for Focus magnifier first press is on 1x, second 5x and third 12.5
Sigh, I really wish it was 5x then 12.5x vs 1x, 5x, then 12.5x
I really miss that from my NEX-7, it sure does speed things up, I can move the curser just as easy and just as fast on my NEX-7, but I don't have to go through the 1x screen to get where I want to go, it's like to drive your car, you can only get in by going through the trunk, you can exit through the door at any time.
And playback zoom feels like I have to pop the hood, get out of the car, press the button, close the hood and get back in the car, through the trunk again.
Ok this analogy may be somewhat extreme, but that's how it feels to me, it literally sucks the fun out of photography, just like the car in the analogy would not be a fun car to do errands in.
