The R version can produce a bit more moire/aliasing in some cases, though it is more a matter of how much rather than moire or no moire.
That is how I see it as well. In all comparisons I have seen where there is moire, also the 5DS has the same pattern, only much less "contrasty". I think someone measured the AA filter to be 75% effective, or in other words, the 5DS give 25% of the moire that the 5DS R gives.
Canon has released a recommended lens list for the 5DS/5DSR. FYI Nikon did the same thing when they released the D800/E. These lists are endlessly debatable
Thanks for posting this Dan. Ive been wondering how this cam will do for landscapes. Ive been looking for a reason to leave sony and come back to canon and this looks like it

Ha - I've got 7 of them. Does that mean I should buy it?
FYI - I have none of the Mk II big lenses. I'm surprised that the Mk 1 version of the 300/2.8 and 400/2.8 aren't on the list (well, maybe not) while the 50/1,8 II is. Equally puzzling, the new 50/1.8 STM is not on the list.

I have six, but my most used 24-105 isn't on the list so I guess I don't qualify. I have the 70-200 f4 IS but it isn't on the list, only the non-IS.
And I was so going to rush out and buy the camera too. Too bad Canon you were so close.

Probably only listing lenses currently in production....maybe Canon hopes it can scare some customers to upgrade...

For anybody interested, here is the back story how this list came to be.
Canon Summer Intern: "Hey boss, I made a list of recommended lenses for the 5DS. Wanna see?"
Boss: "Why on earth would we need that? We tried all our lenses and they all work great on that camera."
Intern: "I know, but when I look at discussions about this camera on the internet, I see that some folks have been asking which lenses will "do justice" to the 50MP sensor. So why not release a recommendation?"
Boss: "OK, so how did you compile the list?"
Intern: "Well I started with the lenses that have the largest profit margin for us. Then I also added some for which we have too much stock at hand, like the old 50mm f/1.8 lens. Should I publish it?"
