When I found out that a CME had hit the Earth I was thrilled and pessimistic. Thrilled because of the magnitude of the impact but pessimistic because it was still 10 hours till night here in Finland. I was scared that the auroras would vanish before dark.

But I soon found out that my fears were needless and the aurora display was... Phenomenal.

Here is the first photo I managed to finish. A 14 pictures panorama. I�ll be posting more when I�m done

Beautiful!
That Aurora was quite strong - visible all over Northern Europe and Asia.

Thanks! It took around six minutes to shoot this panorama. Luckily the arc wasn't so active at that time.

Here's a couple more, they are not in their final form yet, I'll have to find more time to get them right.

Over two hundred photos... Lots of picking and editing ahead. But I'm not complaining

I have to mention a strange phenomenon that happened that night. I heard several times a hissing noise, like that of a radio that's not tuned. Several other people also reported hearing the same kind of noises that night. The noise wasn't constant, it came and went sporadically.
