It will compliment my 600 f4e perfectly and im sure it will be my preferred lense for kayak bird photography! I shoot with my 600mm f4e on the water and it is not easy with the wave, moving water etc and trying to hold steady! The 300mm will be a walk in the park in comparaison!
I am soooo jealous that you have the 600e fl...I have the 500e, have wanted the 600 for a while, but they literally never come up for sale used. The 300pf is my favorite lens, mostly because I am able to take it on mtn bike rides and shoot some critters at some of our parks.
A few photos taken with the D500 and 300mm pf at 300mm and with the 1.7 tc at 500mm. They were all taken at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Doncaster, England. Worth a visit if you live in the UK.
First tryout with the 300 pf f4. I love the lightness of this lense but it ain't the bokeh of the 600mm f4e. It is quite sharp but af could be a faster imo. It's a pretty good lense overall and I won't mind carrying it with me.
Posting some snaps taken with D850 and 300mm PF + TC14 iii. First outing with this setup. Been using Sony A7rii/riii for about 1.5 years. Still learning the system and evaluating the settings. All taken at Singapore zoo. Hope to take some in "wild" now.

I discovered the 300PF with or without the 1.4TCiii via Commlite
will AF fast enough for perched bierds on the Sony A7Riii.
Awesome photos. Are you able to use all of the focus points with on the a7riii with this lens using the commlite adapter? I use some of my Nikon lenses on my a7riii but the focus points are often restricted to a vertical line in the center. Stray too far to the left or right and AF just doesn't work.

Bob the Chickadee was with the a9. Earlier in the thread I'd posted a Northern Cardinal with the A7Riii.
Honestly I don't know how many focus points I have with either Sony and the a9 or A7Riii
All I can tell you is that big white bierds against a solid background are a piece of cake for the a9+1.4TCiii+300PF-
I've not had a chance to really engage BIF with the A7Riii+300PF via the Commlite
I don't think the A7Riii is even listed by Commlite as being compatible...at all.
The 300pf has been glued to my Nikon body of choice since I acquired it at the time it first hit the market 3 1/2 years ago or so. It only comes off to accommodate the attachment of either the 1.4 or 1.7 TC. Nothing is really comparable (except perhaps the 500pf which I have yet to get my hands on).
