Very nice pictures!
How can you be so close to the bird ?
Well done !
Thanks man. I have a room on the back of my house that isnt heated that i use as my blind. I set my yard up to be critter friendly during the winter months. Im usually 15-20 foot from any bird with usually a 100% crop.
Im really tired of the same birds but i love using my gear. I just added a tc to my sigma 150-600 sport, now were getting close ups lol.
Any experiences with TC-17eII with this lens. I've searched this thread, but found only one reference to the TC-17. I am using a D810, and would like to get to effective 600mm with resolution of not less than 24mp, which I can achieve with TC-17 and 1.2x crop. I have tried TC-20eIII, but thought it was a bit soft. TIA.
After reading Phil's ( Philshoots) post about the lens and extension tubes, had to pull it out and try . I had forgotten how very frustrating it can be
300mm f/4 PF with 12mm Kenko extension tube. No flash

Wow really awesome shots. How far away from the subject are you?

very nice indeed! Are you using AF (tracking?) on the bee for these shots?
although my dragonflies are much faster, this looks promising ;-)

Your experience with the 2x mirrors mine.
With the new TC-14EIII, the IQ is so freakin' good, I just didn't spend much time with my 1.7x on it. The quality drop off from the naked lens to the 1.4x TC was very small. I know that isn't exactly what you wanted but it's some feedback from someone who owns the 1.7x...
Just picked up this lens and used it on Vacation. Absolutely fell in love with it's ultra small size with great image quality. I used it a bit with my 2xiii it definitely does not handle it as well as my 300mm F2.8. Needs to stop down to F11 for okay sharpness at a distance.
