Tundra swans. A few variations of the same shot using my 300 PF on the D810, with crop. I think maybe one of the spot metering selections on my D810 might have been better here with the white highlights--? Anyhow, I'm pretty happy with the detail; I wasn't all that close to them and the light was a bit gray.
Wow!
I just had this lens delivered today. It really kicks butt!!
Super light too!
Just a few quick grabs with my D810 before the sun set. Totally sharp!!
I feel like I'm cheating with it as compared to my 300mm f/4 AF-S on a tripod.
Cropped quite a bit.
Now all I need is the 500mm and I'll be set for the year....
Oh wait... Maybe next year..

You are a very cruel man to show such a nice image like this ... you are fueling my NAS for this lens and my envy of your skill. Well done sir!
Thanks, Birdie! I've seen your hummingbird shots and sharp images such as ckcarr's above, and I'm trying to get close on sharpness to them if possible. I think there's a learning curve on this lens for me... Thom Hogan likes it at f/5.6. I'll keep plugging til I get some real keepers.
I have faith in this lens, it feels so nicely balanced on the D810 w grip.
I'm posting another image to keep the thread up, but am hoping to see some shots with this lens from some of you out there in FM land who are much better than this ole' amateur. I am having fun in my own way with this lens, though!
