Is there anyone here who has this lens and the new Tammy 150-600? I know the Tammy has great versatility for being a zoom, but this 300mm is looking quite stellar as well. Decisions decisions! I feel like I'd need a cropper to eek out more "equivalent FL" with the 300 or figure out a way to get much closer to the subject on FF.

Hi, I have both and even posted comparison shots somewhere in this thread
FINALLY got my 300mm f/4E yesterday and took it out for a few hundred frames this morning. All I can say is wow - it's so light weight and so so sharp wide open. No flare issues and if handheld patiently, no VR issues at moderate speeds (although I can coax bad behavior out of it at close distances with sloppy technique). Here are a couple of images from today.
These photos are nice! However full frame shots of a subject posted here with this lens don't make the 300mm look any different than any other lens. 100% crops are the only way to really show off this lens. Seeing crops would be a better selling point IMO!
I haven't held this lens yet or seen it in person, it looks cool though.

Wow Svopen
Those are sharp!
Do you think the 1.4III is superior to the II version?
I presently have the II and was wondering about going to the III.
Thanks Luke.
I had the TC1.4II but I wasn't happy with it on the 500mm f4. The IQ wasn't up to par for me and AF was very spotty with combo. The 1.4III is a big improvement in both areas.
