Does anyone know where I can get one of these in the United States?? They seem to be out of stock everywhere and no one seems to know when they will be available..
After reviewing test images I sent in for the VR issue in the 1/60 to 1/180 shutter speed range, Nikon USA has instructed me to return my 300PF for service.
Leo, you might check with Berger Brothers in NY. I received mine from them when everyone else (that I had contacted) was out. Ask for Lisa Monaham (800-262-4160, x126). You might tell her Arnie referred you as I have recently given them a reasonable amount of business.

Are you going to send it in? Am curious to know how it works out for you.
I tested it's VR performance around the 1/160 on a D7100. And YES, it is blurry.
But guess what. SO MANY OTHER LENSES. and other cameras too. it seems related to shutter sake reverberations. Just google 1/160 and VR issues, there are plenty of examples. it happens on Nikon 1 with mechanical shutter, but not with the electronic, it happens on olympus om-d e-m5, and always around 1/160
And I tested it on my Nikon 1 V2 with electronic shutter. Guess the result? flawless at 1/160.
This lens is awesome. I am not related to nikon in any way, but I am an engineer, and I know that no product is perfect. (REALLY, not.a.single.one.) It all comes down to how you use it to compensate for its flaws, and the overall value you get from using it.
This lens? very good value: Ultra light, ultra sharp, ultra small. Feels solid, focuses fast. And VR, other that in a frequency band that you don't want to be shooting at anyway, it's impressive. When you press the focus on button, it locks like a magnet on the background. So just shoot a bit faster. 1/320 is ok.
Maybe nikon can improve it further after the internet regurgitates it back to them in anger. while they work at it, I'll be taking pictures.

very likely! If it is shutter vibration indeed, different camera models can shake differently. Even different copies of the same camera.
Both of my pf copies work well on my D810 and D7100
Can also try them on a D800 and D5300 and report?
Just tested 4 bodies (D810, D800, D7100, D5300)
All 4 work ok at 1/160th with VR on both our 300mm pf lenses (both from the same batch, very close serial numbers).
Just received the Nikon 300 f4E PF and took it to a local park for a couple of quick text shots. I really like the size and weight of the lens and think it is going to more than meet my needs. These shots are with the TC14 III.
I purchased the Vello and thus far I am pleased with it. It seems quite sturdy not that dissimilar from the Kirk collar I have for the 80-400. I also have an Ebay special for the 70-200/4 which fits the the 300/4E, but is not of the same quality (so it appears) of the Vello.
