I've been curious how a person living in Mason City Iowa gets so many fantastic photos!
I have to travel many hours to see a mountain vistas so I try to maximize my time by talking to people, online research or joining a workshop.

Beautiful colors in the first image. I like the contrast between cool and warm tones, and how the ice and reflections pick up a bit of the warm tones to help tie the upper and lower portions of the image together. I think the detail could be there a bit more ... perhaps a bit too much compression. The second image is very creative. Way to push the boundaries. I particularly like how the windblown snow seems to be heading towards the prominent peak. The moon helps offset the peak compositionally, and is also a nice and natural touch. Well done....Show more →
Thanks for taking time to analyze the scene. very helpful

Great shots, both of them! Really nicely done.
Out of curiosity, how/where did you cross the river in order to make that first shot?
