I (landscape) take my hat off to JBPhoto (solution) for using Ronin to support his point.

Despite my best efforts to show people that this 'issue' is not their camera but rather a lens flare issue let me point you to one more example.
Watch the movie Ronin circa 1998 shot on Kodak 500 ASA film 35 mm. Cameras for the movie are Panaflexes for dialogue scenes, Arriflex 435s and 35-IIIs for the car-chase sequences, and the Steadicam. Sixteen minutes in, the courtyard scene with Robert De Niro watching a group of singers. The camera pans down and low and behold a high intensity light skims the outer frame edge, for a second or two you will see this hard edge lens flare that some think their cameras are responsible for....Show more →

Hey Brett, can show us some of those images that were ruined by shooting with the D750?
Nope, I don't have any. Like I've said repeatedly, it is a problem, but a minor one, and not one that will discourage me from using and enjoying the D750. I'll shoot my first wedding with it next week, maybe I'll change my tune after that.
I just shot straight into a light bulb at two feet! Don't see anything. Can someone send me a thread on how they are testing to create this issue?
Have you read the thread you're commenting in? It doesn't happen with the light source in the frame, it happens with the light just outside the frame. " target="_blank" rel="nofollow">
I've come to think of the black band as Flare-us Interruptus... since that's basically what it seems to me. I can easily cause the veiling flare, esp with my 20mm prime, and the band is actually where the unflared (darker, more contrasty) picture come through.

Thanks for that information. I just couldn't find that information. I somehow missed it. I plan to give this a try and get back to you all.

James, try setting the ISO at 24k then go outside and shoot into the sun with the lens wide open
you may get lucky

I'll try this as well.
I was holding back to see who gets my 666 Satanic Curse, and it seems that r.gil deserves it for telling someone how to destroy their camera's sensor or amplifier circuit by pointing it directly into the sun. Not only that if James ever damage his eye sights following his instructions, here is proof that James can use against him in court.

Uh oh! Flare from a new Nikon 20mm F1.8-Dammit. Cannot consider that lens. I hope you meant 20mm F2.8AFD instead.
This exactly what they are doing setting back and seeing how much crap storm there is about what we all know is a camera box more prone to this phenomenon. It's absolutely insane the amount of people diluting this effect by injecting " it doesn't bother me" well then don't post and shoot your camera no good can come for the consumer.....I've been shooting the fool out of my d750 but I don't want to let Nikon off the hook either...it's us or them period...us against them period...side will us period....notice how the one big defender here when pressed said "what you want me to do go out and buy a $1000 more 5km3"? See the reveals the emotion...even if he never planned to he could help the community and himself by posting instead I am selling my gear for Canon gear because of this issue even if it he doesn't mean it at all...no good can be served to the consumer by saying anything positive during these nikon release snafus. Why would you take the time to post a response that devalues the consumer power it's nuts....Nikon should be having to gauge how many of us are telling the truth we are mad about this instead of you doing their dirty work and letting them off the hook....
Jesus what an absolutely abusable community.....

Maybe Nikon's strategy is like wait and see, if the number of complains, law suits increase then update the model with a 10, like D760
Even in spite of the D750's ability to generate that abnormal flare shadow in some circumstances, I am not currently inclined to consider buying anything from Canon again for a long time. I have put all my purchases and sales on hold in fact, keeping one Nikon body and 35+85g lenses (which is what I use most anyway) plus 60g macro and cheapo Samyang 14mm, and keeping all my Canon stuff for a while yet. Waiting to see what Canon does next round, what Nikon says about D750, etc.
I'm not unsatisfied with the D750 so far, it does very well overall.

I don't know what you are talking about. I said in one of my posts I called Nikon and complained about the issue. But what more can I do? I'm not going to pay a lot more money for a camera that isn't as good. I think it sucks, but it's still a very usable camera. I never said Nikon should be left off the hook. I can either keep my D750 or sell it and but something like a 5D Mark III. Which would be stupid since I probably will rarely if ever see the defect. Doesn't mean i'm not a little upset about it.
