Yeah, that image at top is horribly front focused. Also, News Shooter reports it focuses only to 70cm, but that's the RF coupled distance. The lens focuses to 50cm, or nearer when used with a helical adapter, as we likely all know.
I think the two News Shooter samples are decent. Doesn't look really any different in terms of color/character from the previous version, but might have less vignetting. It's unclear what aperture was used. There is some starburst effect around point light sources, which would imply it was stopped down somewhat.

Just shoot a brick wall dead on from wide open through f/11. A scene with a lot of tree branches against the sky in the corners is also good. We won't hold lack of artistic creativity against you. It's a gear forum, after all.

Hmm, interesting results. It would appear vIII works well on the a7II and a7R. Quite the CA though, but not so uncommon with Cosina. To my eyes, the vIII on the M240 has a bit of cyan edge color shift. Probably not a big problem.
Brought some of their full-rez Jpegs into LR from each of the cameras and it seems the fringing/CA will clean up OK. They used the 21/2.8 non-ASPH lens code with the M240, which I feel may be slightly too much compensation because there definitely is a slight cyan/green tinge along the edges.

I got mine today from Cameraquest. It was snowing, so this shot was thru the double glass w/ A7R... Corners look good and I didn't see any major color shifting. It still has heavy vignetting to be corrected, since it is still a small lens like Sony FE 35mm. LR ver 2 profile overcorrects it, so I did it manual vignetting correction. I need to check it more in better conditions...

Mine was a no-show, the PO pushed delivery back a day and I won't be home to sign for it today so it'll be Monday.
That's not too bad, the X-Fujinon 19/3.5 I ordered went out for delivery in California on the 16th, and there has been no update to the tracking since then, you would think the USPS could see a difference between California and Canada.....

I sent 2 items to Seattle from Mass recently using USPS, one took 7 days, the other 9 and the Heliar was shipped on Thursday for next day delivery so I made sure I was home. I'm not so sure I would have got any good images with it today mind you, it snowed almost all day.
